AirDrop is one of the best features across the entire Apple ecosystem. With its help, we can share practically anything in an instant. It doesn't only apply to images, but it can also easily deal with individual documents, links, notes, files and folders and a number of others at relatively lightning speed. Sharing in this case only works over short distances and only works between Apple products. The so-called "AirDrop", for example, a photo from iPhone to Android is not possible.

In addition, Apple's AirDrop feature offers a fairly solid transfer speed. Compared to traditional Bluetooth, it is miles away - for connection, the Bluetooth standard is first used to create a peer-to-peer (P2P) Wi-Fi network between two Apple products, then each device creates a firewall for a secure and encrypted connection, and only then the data is transferred. In terms of security and speed, AirDrop is a level higher than e-mail or Bluetooth transmission. Android devices can also rely on a combination of NFC and Bluetooth to share files. Even so, they do not reach the capabilities that AirDrop offers thanks to the use of Wi-Fi.

AirDrop can be even better

As we mentioned above, AirDrop is an integral part of the entire Apple ecosystem today. For many people, it is also an irreplaceable solution that they rely on every day for their work or studies. But even though AirDrop is a first-class feature, it still deserves some upheaval that could make the overall experience more enjoyable and improve the overall capabilities a bit more. In short, there is plenty of room for improvement. So let's take a look at the changes that every Apple user using AirDrop would definitely welcome.

AirDrop would deserve it in the first place changing the user interface and on all platforms. It's currently quite poor - it's great for sharing small things, but it can run into problems very quickly with larger files. In the same way, the software does not tell us anything at all about the transfer. Therefore, it would certainly be appropriate if we could see a complete redesign of the UI and the addition of, for example, smaller windows that would inform about the status of the transfer. This could avoid awkward moments when we ourselves are not sure whether the transfer is running or not. Even the developers themselves came up with a very interesting idea. They were inspired by the cutout on the new MacBooks and wanted to use the given space somehow. That's why they started working on a solution where all you have to do is mark any files and then drag them (drag-n-drop) into the cutout area to activate AirDrop.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to shed some light on the overall reach. As already mentioned, AirDrop is intended for sharing over shorter distances - so in practice you have to be more or less in the same room to actually use the function and forward something. For this reason, the range extension could be a great upgrade that would definitely be popular with many apple growers. But we have a better chance with the redesign of the mentioned user interface.
