If you're running iOS 4.0.2 on your device or iOS 3.2.2 on your iPad and thought you'd be getting a new jailbreak soon, we've got you covered. There will be no jailbreak for these iOS. This opinion was shared by the Dev-Team on their blog.

The latest released jailbreak - jailbreakme.com was a big hit for all jailbreak fans which took hacking to the next level. Doing it on your device has never been easier. All you had to do was swipe your finger and wait a while (instructions on jailbreakme.com here). Jailbreakme.com uses a security bug on iOS with PDF files.

Since this bug poses a threat not only to Apple, but mainly to users, it was only a matter of time before a patch came out for this hole. However, this is a good thing from the point of view of regular users, because their entire iPhone can be wiped in no time due to this bug.

Hackers managed to fix the security problem in their own way. They came for a simple fix. It was enough to install a handy utility in Cydia, which always asks you whether you really want to download a PDF file (article here). But what about non-jailbroken users?

Apple has not been lazy. It soon released iOS 4.0.2, which doesn't bring anything new except fixing a security bug. This prevented the use of jailbreakme.com. So there were several questions addressed to the Dev-Team, whether they will release a jailbreak for this new iOS as well. But the answer was clear, the Dev-Team will not be developing a jailbreak for 4.0.2 because it would be a waste of time.

You could say that the Dev-Team is playing cat and mouse with Apple. Hackers pose as mice, looking for a loophole in the device's security in order to perform a jailbreak. However, after its release, the cat - Apple will close this hole. Therefore, one can only agree that jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2 is simply pointless.

Even if hackers find a loophole, Apple is currently working on iOS 4.1, and the company's programmers could very easily add another patch to it.

Those users who have updated their device to iOS 4.0.2 will have to wait for the jailbreak release for iOS 4.1. The only exception is iPhone 3G owners, who can still use the RedSn0w tool even for 4.0.2. Which gives the impression that Apple doesn't care about this model.
