Bono Teams Up With Jonathan Ive For AIDS Auction (9/9)

U2 frontman Bono found strong partners for his benefit auction. They spent a year and a half together with the famous Apple designer Jony Ive and Marc Newson on tuning the objects that will be held on November 23 in New York and the proceeds will go to the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

At the forefront of all the auctioned items is a Leica digital camera designed exclusively by Ive and Neswon. A photo of this exclusive model has not yet appeared. Since Apple's in-house designer is participating in the event, there will also be some products with the bitten apple logo. For example, gold headphones that can match the new gold iPhone 5s will be auctioned. However, it is surprising to see that Jony Ive is also turning his attention somewhere other than Apple's laboratories.

Nissan introduced its own smart watch (September 9)

A very surprising player has joined the battle for our wrists – Nissan has come up with its own smart watch. Its Nissan Nismo Concept Watch is supposed to be the first timepiece to connect the driver and the car. Nissan presented its concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. His watch is supposed to monitor various statistics of both the car and the driver. It is not only biometric data, but also, for example, fuel consumption.

The Nismo smartwatch will attach to the wrist using a simple mechanism, and the simple user interface will be controlled by a pair of buttons. Charging is via Micro-USB, according to Nissan, and the battery will last up to seven days with normal use. Similar to the Sony SmartWath 2 or the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the Nismo will be an accessory to a smartphone to which it will connect via Bluetooth. The Nismo looks pretty good in the product images, but Nissan has not yet revealed when or if its concept will go on sale, or how much it should cost.

Apple had built a prototype of smart glasses in the style of Google Glass (September 10)

Tony Fadell, current head of Nest and senior vice president of Apple's iPod division from 2006 to 2008, revealed that Apple had a Google Glass-like device in its labs, but that he didn't have time to complete it due to success elsewhere. In an interview with Fast Company he said:

At Apple, we've always asked, what else could we revolutionize? We researched video cameras and remote controls. The craziest thing we considered was something like Google Glass. We thought, "What if we make glasses that make you feel like you're sitting in a movie theater?" I made a few prototypes like that, but we'd had a lot of success with the products we'd already made, and there wasn't time for this one.

iPhone 4 will continue to be sold in China at a reduced price (September 13)

Apple made some unconventional moves this week. For example, it stopped offering the iPhone 5 after just one year, and in China, on the other hand, continues to sell the iPhone 4, which is two years older, alongside the newly introduced iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. The already aging device is offered in online and brick-and-mortar stores for 2 yuan (over 588 crowns), which is 8 yuan (over 700 crowns) less than the iPhone 2S and 4 yuan (1 crowns). or 900 yuan (6 crowns) less than the new iPhone 2c or iPhone 700s. There is speculation that Apple is keeping the iPhone 8 alive in China to satisfy demand for a cheaper smartphone, which was originally supposed to be the iPhone 500c.

Sony attacks Apple TV with its PS Vita TV (9/9)

Sony introduced an interesting product this week in Japan. It will want to compete with PS Vita TV, for example, Apple TV, which is strikingly similar. However, PS Vita TV not only allows you to stream content from various services, but if you connect a DualShock 3 controller to your TV with PS Vita TV, you can play PSP and PS Vita games on it. PS Vita TV offers additional benefits to owners of the PlayStation 4 console. For example, it can stream content to a different TV than the one the console is originally connected to. So someone can watch TV in the living room and you can enjoy gaming on the TV in the other room without having to physically have the PS4 with you.

The PS Vita TV will be sold in Japan for 9 yen, which translates to less than $480, i.e. less than 100 crowns. The first interested parties will be able to purchase the new product from Sony in November. However, in order to be able to play games with the PS Vita TV, you need a more expensive version (2 crowns), which also comes with a DualShock 000 controller and an 2GB memory card.
