Hacker Geohot under the wings of Microsoft (January 23)

George Hotz, a well-known hacker and author of jailbreak and unlock for iPhone, began to show interest in the competing operating system Windows Phone 7. Through his page, he said, “Maybe there is a better way to deal with jailbreakers. I will buy a Windows 7 phone.” Apparently, Hotz likes Microsoft's more hacker-friendly approach and wants to try this relatively new platform.

His message was also noticed by Brendon Watson, the director of Windows Phone 7 development, and through his Twitter account he offered Geohot a free phone if he was interested in creating for this platform. The two then exchanged several messages and it looks like Microsoft has acquired an interesting persona from the world of geeks who will surely bring Windows Phone 7 more attention.

Loss of iPhone drove woman to attempt suicide (January 24)

Although Apple products are dear to many people, sometimes this relationship can go too far. A good example is the story of a Chinese woman from Hong Kong and her iPhone. She was looking forward to her phone for a long time, but she did not enjoy it for a long time, as she lost it not long after the purchase. When she turned to her husband to buy her a new one right away, she received a negative answer. Her husband worked as a bus driver, and with an average driver's salary, he certainly couldn't afford to buy two expensive phones in one week.

Mrs. Wong was overcome with despair and decided to end her life. She left the house early in the morning and was about to jump from a 14-story building. Fortunately, her husband noticed her strange behavior and alerted the police. She foiled the unfortunate act of the desperate Chinese woman. Everything turned out well in the end.

New patent from Apple - keyboard with motion sensor (January 25)

Apple has patented an interesting keyboard concept. It should combine a classic keyboard and a trackpad. Several micro-cameras located along the keyboard should take care of sensing the movement of the hand. The keyboard would also include a toggle button, so the hand movements would only be detected when the mouse mode is on.

The sensing cameras themselves would use similar technologies such as Microsoft Kinect, and the supplied software would then take care of the accuracy of the movement. It is questionable whether this concept could replace a classic mouse or trackpad. We may know the answer in a few years.

Apple sued over broken iPhone glass (January 27)

Donald LeBuhn from California decided to sue Apple. According to him, the ads for the iPhone 4 confuse users by saying that the display glass of the latest Apple phone is XNUMX times stiffer and XNUMX times harder than plastic. LeBuhn states in the lawsuit: "Even after selling millions of iPhone 4s, Apple failed to warn customers that the glass was defective and continued to sell it."

This claim is backed up by LeBuhn's experience testing the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. He dropped both devices from the same height onto the ground, and while the 3GS phone survived unscathed, the iPhone 4's glass shattered. LeBuhn wants through the whole process to get Apple to refund him the amount he paid for the iPhone 4 and possibly provide free service to other dissatisfied customers.

Adobe Packanger will soon be able to compile applications on the iPad as well (January 28)

Thanks to the loosened restrictions regarding the App Store, Adobe was able to enter its package Flash Professional CS5 include compiler software that was able to translate an application written in flash into native Objetive-C code. Previously this was not possible, Apple approved applications compiled exclusively in Xcode, which is only available for the Mac platform.

However, thanks to this package, even Windows owners can develop applications using flash. An update should be released soon for Flash Professional, which will make it possible to compile iPad applications as well. Windows owners and others who like to program in flash can look forward to the possibility of creating programs for an apple tablet.
