The ending MacBook Pro with an optical drive, a new car startup by ex-Apple employees, a basketball star and a speech by Steve Jobs, an honorary doctorate for Jony Ive, as well as the Pride festival…

MacBook Pro with optical drive is slowly disappearing from the menu (June 21)

Apple has begun to slowly withdraw the non-Retina display MacBook Pro model, the last MacBook that can be found with an optical drive, from its stores. The model is still in stock in most Apple Stores, but its time has probably come. Even though this MacBook, with a price of 32 crowns, is the most affordable version of the MacBook Pro, it has not been updated by Apple for four years, and will soon be considered outdated.

Former Apple engineers work on technologies for cars (21/6)

A small preview of what Apple might have in store for us with its Apple Car can be the first product of the startup Pearl, which is staffed by over 50 former Apple employees. The company was founded by three ex-Apple employees and this week finally unveiled its device - a rear camera that can be attached to a car badge.

What sounds like an almost boring product is a reflection of the precision and genius that Apple relies on. For $500 (12 crowns), the camera transmits the image directly to smartphone displays, which enables the use of the product by all car owners who do not have a dashboard with a screen. In addition, the camera is charged via solar energy and one day in the sun is enough for a whole week of use.

The US government is about to introduce a law that will require all new cars to have a rear camera starting in 2018. Pearl then wants to focus on all cars made before this year.

Basketball player LeBron James was also motivated by Steve Jobs (21/6)

The Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team was already losing 1-3 in the final series of the NBA playoffs and was on the verge of defeat, but the main star of the team, LeBron James, decided not to give up and before the game against the California favorites of Apple Golden State Warriors (Eddy Cue, for example, is a fan) inspired by Steve Jobs' 2005 speech in which the Apple founder talked about his studies at Stanford University.

LeBron focused on the part where Jobs talks about the subject of calligraphy, which seemed completely unnecessary at the time he studied it, but later influenced him in designing the first Mac. According to Jobs, a person cannot realize at a given moment how much influence this moment can have on his future. LeBron showed the speech to his teammates, who were most likely impressed, as they won the game against the Californian team.

Users will be able to opt out of differential privacy in iOS 10 (June 24)

One of the new features in iOS 10 and other operating systems is called differential privacy, which is Apple's next step to further protect the privacy and personal data of users while collecting the necessary data from them to improve its services. In iOS 10, differential privacy will be used to improve the keyboard, Siri and other areas that are more effective the more it learns about the user. At that point, differential privacy will ensure that Apple will not have data from individual users, but will only receive indeterminate chunks of information that cannot be abused. If, of course, the user is not even interested in such secure data sharing with Apple, he will be able to opt out.
