Is the weight of your smartphone a problem for you? The more we use them, the more their size and weight matter. It is the size that has the benefit in that the large display will provide us with an appropriate spread not only for the eyes, but also for the fingers. The problem is that the heavier the device, the worse it is to use.

You probably have that too - you buy a Max or Plus model to have a large display that you can look at from a greater distance. But because such a large device is heavy, it actually "drops" your arm closer to your body, which results in you bending your neck more and straining your cervical spine. If you use your iPhone like this for several hours a day, it's only a matter of time before some health problems arise.

Although we should not expect the new iPhone 15 Pro until September, there has been speculation for a long time that the frame of this series should be titanium. This will replace the current steel. The result will be not only better resistance, but also lower weight, since the density of titanium is almost half. Although the entire weight of the device will not be reduced by half, it can still be a significant value.

32 grams extra

The weight of the largest iPhones keeps growing, making their use less and less comfortable. Apart from your neck, of course your fingers can also hurt from the way you hold your phone, whether it's scrolling through social networks or playing games. Of course, the biggest problem is with the iPhone Pro Max, because the current 14 Plus has an aluminum frame and thanks to cut-down technologies, it is also significantly lighter, even though its display is the same size (the weight of the iPhone 14 Plus is 203 g).

The first iPhone with the Max moniker was the iPhone XS Max. Even though it already had glass on both sides, and it also had a steel frame, it weighed only 208 g. The iPhone 11 Pro Max then recorded a really huge increase in weight, which only a year later already weighed 226 g. This was mainly due to its third lens camera, the iPhone 12 Pro Max was able to maintain this value. However, the constant improvement of the hardware resulted in the iPhone 13 Pro Max already weighing 238 g and the 14 Pro Max now weighing 240 g.

Just for comparison, Asus ROG Phone 6D Ultimate 247g, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 has 263g, Huawei Honor Magic Vs Ultimate 265g, Huawei Honor Magic V 288g, vivo X Fold 311g, Cat S53 320g, Doogee S89 Pro 400 g. iPad mini 6th generation weighs 297 g, iPad Air 5th generation 462 g. Same big screen, smaller chassis

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the fact that the iPhone 15 Pro display should have minimal bezels. The result of this could be the same size chassis while increasing the diagonal of the display, or of course maintaining the size of the display but reducing the overall size of the chassis. However, Apple is not one of those companies that needs to constantly increase the size of the display, and even more so when we consider that more than 6,7 inches doesn't offer much competition, because it doesn't make much sense anymore (if you don't count jigsaw puzzles).

A better strategy would therefore be to keep the display size of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which would still be 6,7", but the chassis would be reduced. This would also mean less glass on the phone, and the frame of the device would also be smaller, which would logically be lighter. In the end, this could significantly reduce the weight itself, if Apple can fit all the necessary technologies into a smaller body. Taking into account the iPhone 14 Pro, it could be said that it should succeed, when the 6,1" models are actually beaten only on battery capacity.

A smaller device would also make sense considering the amount of material used. When you're selling millions of phones, you know every gram of precious metal you save will give you one, two, ten extra devices. The price will of course remain the "same".
