A very interesting feature appeared in iOS 11 that could come in handy for many users. We are all used to the fact that notifications appear on our phone screen, and we have them available basically the moment we pick up the phone from the table, for example, or take it out of our pocket (if we have a device that supports the raise to wake function). However, this solution may not suit some, as the content of notifications is visible on the display. So if you receive an SMS, its contents can be seen on the display and can be read by anyone who can see your phone. However, this can now be changed.
In iOS 11, there is a new function that allows you to hide the content of notifications, and if you turn it on, the notification will only contain general text and the icon of the relevant application (be it SMS, missed calls, emails, etc.). The content of this notification only appears when the phone is unlocked. And here comes the very moment when the new iPhone X will excel. Thanks to Face ID, which should work really fast, it will be possible to display notifications just by looking at your phone. If the iPhone is placed on a table and a notification appears on the display, its content will not be displayed and people around you will not be able to curiously read what actually appeared on your phone.
This novelty is not only associated with the new planned flagship, it can also be activated on all other iPhones (and iPads) that have access to iOS 11. However, in the case of use with Touch ID, it is no longer such an ergonomic miracle as in the case of authorization via Face ID. You can find this setting in Settings - Notification - Show previews and here you have to select an option When unlocked.

On the contrary, it seems to me that this function is much more suitable for TouchID. If a notification comes to the phone that is lying on the table, the display will light up. And we can place a finger without any manipulation and thus display notifications with complete information. While with FaceID, you will need to take the phone in your hand and look at it - that is, you need to manipulate it. And if we are close enough to it, the information will be displayed even if we don't want it just by looking at the phone and unlocking it unintentionally, because our gaze will be drawn to the display lighting up when receiving a notification.
This would require Face ID to distinguish whether the user looks at the phone with an expression of contempt (notifications will remain without detail) or with an expression of curiosity (notifications will be displayed in detail). ?
Now it's funny, but when they showed how the smiley reacted to facial expressions, maybe it could have been fine-tuned like this.
Or can it be monitored by the number of sniffers...?
