At today's unveiling of the new iPhone 14 (Pro) series, Apple also devoted part of the presentation to SIM cards. SIM cards are an integral part of mobile phones and they are the ones that can connect us to the outside world. But the truth is that they are slowly dying out. On the contrary, the segment of so-called eSIM or electronic SIM cards perceives an increasing trend. In this case, you do not use a classic physical card, but have it uploaded to your phone electronically, which brings with it a number of advantages.

In such a case, possible manipulation is easier and the eSIM leads incomparably in the field of security. If you lose your phone or someone steals it, there is practically no way you can prevent someone from removing your SIM card from your phone. It is precisely this problem with the help of eSIM that falls. It is therefore not surprising that this field is enjoying the already mentioned growing popularity. After all, as GlobalData analyst Emma Mohr-McClune stated at the beginning of 2022, the replacement of SIM cards with newer eSIMs is only a matter of time. And as it seems, that time has already arrived.

In the USA, only eSIM. What about Europe?

When Apple unveiled the new iPhone 14 (Pro) series, it came with some interesting news. In the United States of America, only iPhones without a physical SIM card slot will be sold, which is why Apple users there will have to make do with eSIM. This relatively fundamental change has understandably raised a number of questions. For example, how will the iPhone 14 (Pro) be in Europe, i.e. directly here? The situation has not changed for the time being for local apple growers. Apple will only sell the new generation without a physical SIM card slot in the US market, while the rest of the world will sell the standard version. However, as we have already mentioned above the words of the GlobalData analyst, it is not a question of whether the situation will change in our country, but rather when it will happen. It's only a matter of time.

However, more detailed information is not available for now. But it can be expected that the technological giants will gradually pressure the world's operators to resort to these changes as well. For phone manufacturers, such a change can represent an interesting benefit in the form of free space inside the phone. Although the SIM card slot itself does not take up a lot of space, it is necessary to realize that today's smartphones are composed of a number of miniature components that, despite their small size, can play a relatively essential role. Just such a free space could be used for the further advancement of technology and phones.
