In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

The iPhone 12 mini can't take advantage of MagSafe charging potential

Last month, the Californian giant showed us the most anticipated new product of this apple year. Of course, we are talking about the new iPhone 12 phones, which offer a great angular design, an extremely powerful Apple A14 Bionic chip, support for 5G networks, durable Ceramic Shield glass, improved night mode for all cameras and MagSafe technology for magnetically connecting accessories or charging. In addition, Apple promises a significantly higher speed when charging through MagSafe compared to classic wireless chargers that use the Qi standard. While Qi will offer 7,5 W, MagSafe can handle up to 15 W.

However, in the newly released document, Apple told us that the smallest iPhone 12 mini will not be able to use the maximum potential of the new product itself. In the case of "this" little thing, the power will be limited to 12 W. The 12 mini should be able to handle this using a USB-C cable. The document also includes very interesting information about limiting performance under certain circumstances. If you connect accessories to your Apple phone via Lightning (for example, EarPods), the power will be limited to just 7,5 W due to compliance with regulatory standards.

In the end, Apple emphasizes that we should not first connect the MagSafe charger to the iPhone and only then to the mains. The charger should always be connected to the mains first and then connected to the phone. Thanks to this, the charger can check whether it is safe to supply the device with maximum power in the given situation.

Apple Watch will soon be able to play Spotify without an iPhone

The vast majority of music listeners use the Swedish streaming platform Spotify. Fortunately, this is also available on the Apple Watch, but you cannot use it without the presence of an iPhone. That looks set to change soon, as Spotify is rolling out a new update that will let you play and stream music to Bluetooth devices without a phone. The ideal use of this novelty is, for example, during exercise and the like.

In the current situation, the novelty is still only available through beta testing. However, Spotify has confirmed that starting today it will start rolling out the new feature to the public in certain waves. In the past, in order to use this streaming platform, we had to have an Apple phone on hand, which we simply couldn't do without. The function will now only require an Internet connection, either via WiFi or a cellular network in combination with an eSIM (which, unfortunately, is not available in the Czech Republic).

An iPad Pro with a Mini-LED display will arrive early next year

We'll end today's summary again with a new speculation, this time stemming from a Korean report ETNews. According to her, LG is preparing to supply Apple with revolutionary Mini-LED displays, which will be the first to appear in the first quarter of next year with the iPad Pro. The South Korean giant LG should start mass production of these pieces at the end of the year. And why is the Californian giant actually going to retreat from OLED panels and switch to Mini-LED?

Mini-LED boasts the same advantages as OLED. It therefore offers higher brightness, a significantly better contrast ratio and better energy consumption. However, the upside is that it solves the pixel burn-in problem. In recent months, we can hear more and more often about the advent of this technology. In June, a well-respected leaker known as L0vetodream even said that Apple plans to launch an iPad Pro with an A14X chip, 5G support and the aforementioned Mini-LED display as early as the first half of next year. According to several different sources, it will be a 12,9″ Apple tablet, which was also confirmed by probably the most famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The Apple company presented us with the latest iPad Pro this March. If you still remember the show, you surely know that no revolution took place. Compared to its predecessor, it only offered the A12Z chip, which also turned out to be an A12X with one more unlocked graphics core, an ultra-wide-angle lens for 0,5x telephoto zoom, a LiDAR sensor for better augmented reality, and generally improved microphones. According to the aforementioned report, the Californian giant is also planning to use Mini-LED in future MacBooks and iMacs.
