The new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max have the same cameras. In particular, the telescopic camera has improved and can capture much more light thanks to the ƒ/2.0 aperture. It doesn't even need night mode turned on. The previous iPhone XS Max had an aperture of ƒ/2.4.
Together, hardware and software updates can conjure up really excellent shots. After all, even Ryan Russell's pictures prove it. He took several pictures with him from Sir Elton John's concert in Vancouver. Russel specifically stated that he used an iPhone 11 Pro Max for the photo shoot.
The photo captured Sir Elton John at the piano, but also the hall and the audience, including the lighting. The image also shows confetti falling from above, reflections and flashes of light.

I don't want to spoil anyone's joy, but the photo has a 1080p resolution and when zoomed in, the details disappear... or there are none. This is not exactly a good way to praise such a great camera as it is presented. :(
