Apple has taken care of its iPads in recent years. In particular, the Pro and Air models have received relatively fundamental improvements, which today already have a powerful Apple M1 chipset, a new design and a number of other great features, including a USB-C connector. It is therefore not surprising that their popularity is gradually increasing. However, there are relatively strong shortcomings in the software, i.e. in the iPadOS operating system.

Although Apple advertises its iPads as a full-fledged replacement for classic computers, it is necessary to take these statements with a large margin. The aforementioned iPadOS operating system is unable to cope with multitasking so well and makes the iPad more like a phone with a larger screen. In general, it could be said that the entire device is quite limiting. On the other hand, Apple is constantly working on it, so it's only a matter of time before we see a full-fledged settlement.

Converging functions

If we ignore the common functions for multitasking, we will still encounter a number of shortcomings that are simply missing within the iPadOS operating system. One of them can be, for example, user accounts as we know them on classic computers (Windows, Mac, Linux). Thanks to this, computers can be shared between multiple people, as accounts and data are significantly better separated and operate independently of each other. Some competing tablets even have the same function, while Apple unfortunately does not offer this option. Because of this, the iPad is designed specifically for individuals and is rather difficult to share within a family, for example.

If we wanted to use the iPad to access, for example, social networks, work matters or communicators, and at the same time share the device with others, the whole situation becomes noticeably more difficult for us. In such a case, we have to log out of the given services every time and log in after returning, which requires unnecessary time. It's quite strange that something like this is missing in iPadOS. As part of the Apple HomeKit smart home, iPads can function as so-called home centers that take care of the home's own management. That is why the home center is a product that is practically always at home.

Guest account

A partial solution could be to add a so-called guest account. You may recognize it from Windows or macOS operating systems, where it is used for other visitors who need to use a specific device. Thanks to this, all personal data, information and other items are completely separated from the mentioned account, thus ensuring maximum security and privacy. In addition, many apple growers would prefer this option. The tablet as such is mostly used by a single user, but in certain situations, for example within the household, it is good to be able to easily share it with others. In this case, the users themselves suggest that they can set the privileges for this "second account" and thus make sharing the tablet much easier.
