The sixth version of the mobile operating system is just around the corner, so let's review the biggest news. Traditionally, the annual number of changes is small, or for the average user in moderate numbers. Definitely don't expect a drastic transformation of the system, as for example with the competing Android OS between the Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich versions. It's still good old iOS with a few new features on top.
Maps
Custom maps have been talked about even before the arrival of iOS 5, but its sharp deployment will take place in a few days. After five years of cooperation, Apple removes from its system Google Maps. Now, on its map materials, it cooperates with several companies, of which TomTom and Microsoft are worth mentioning. First impressions we brought you already in the first half of June. So far, it is not possible to say unequivocally how satisfied users will be with the new documents. This will be verified by millions of apple growers in the coming weeks and months.
Compared to Google maps, the new ones have worse satellite images (at least for the time being) and in the standard view it is difficult to navigate in them due to the lack of marking of built-up areas. On the contrary, as an attraction, Apple added a 3D display of some world cities and current traffic information such as closures or road works. An almost unknown service was integrated Yelp, which is used to review and rate points of interest, here restaurants, bars, pubs, shops and other businesses.
There is also simple navigation. You enter a starting point and a destination, you get a choice of several alternative routes and you can set off on your journey. Of course, an active data connection is a must, as the maps work only in online mode. Owners of the new iPhone, iPhone 4S and third-generation iPad will be able to use voice navigation, which we informed you about in separate article.
Facebook and sharing
In iOS 5 it was Twitter, now Facebook. Social networks are driving the entire Internet, and Apple is well aware of this. Both parties will undeniably benefit from mutual cooperation. If in Settings in the item Facebook log in under your account, you will be able to send statuses from the notification bar, merge your contacts with those on Facebook and include events in the Calendar.
There is also content sharing directly from Safari, Pictures, App Store and other applications. And it was the menu under the sharing button that underwent a visual change. Previously, a list of elongated buttons pushed out, in iOS 6 a matrix of rounded icons will appear, not unlike that of the home screen.
App Store
This is where the acquisition of the company made a significant impact chomp. Of App Store a new search engine was integrated in iOS 6, which should return more relevant results. The landscape of the digital app store has also changed, and arguably for the better. The changes are best seen on the larger iPad display.
The search does not show a simple list of app icons and names, but rather cards with thumbnails. At first glance, the user gets at least a minimal idea of the application environment. After clicking on the card, a square window pops up with detailed details. After clicking on one of the images, a gallery similar to the one in Images opens across the entire screen. Thanks to this, you can view the application in real size.
Finally, when the installation is in progress, the App Store will remain in the foreground, with a blue bar in the icon indicating the progress. You can recognize newly installed applications by the blue ribbon around the upper right corner. You can perform all updates without entering a password, which is a logical step - they are always free.
passbook
A completely new application from Apple's workshops is used to store various tickets, discount coupons, plane tickets, invitations to events or even loyalty cards. How to passbook will catch on in the future, it is difficult to estimate now, especially in the Czech Republic, where similar "gadgets" are being adapted with a certain delay compared to the USA.

Those maps look poor.
Well, I don't know whether to cheer or cry. From my point of view, absolutely minor useless things and things that have been called for for a long time are nothing at all.
can you suggest what "it" is called? I've been using Apple maps for a while now, and Google maps are really better...however, I've tested the navigation a few times and the maps got me and I enjoy them... (fortunately, Google will supply them), FaceTime via the mobile network - a nice gadget and unlike, for example, Skype, which I used it maybe once in my life (I mean video), I make a FaceTime call once a week (via the mobile network), Facebook integration - great, finally I have everything under one contact... ...full screen mode - finally... ...and now you ..really would I was wondering "what is it called" ;-)
Receipts….
ugh…it's something I need about once a year - but I admit it's a key feature for some. By the way, the iPhone can deliver receipts - just put *N# in the sms...
I'm probably looking forward to the iCloud panels and the Do Not Disturb function the most. We definitely deserve a better search in the App Store, Facebook too, but it's quite a detail. I probably won't use the rest :-(. But I hope Passbook catches on, it seems like a genius thing.
now I'm confused.. the article says: "Owners of the new iPhone, iPhone 4S and third-generation iPad will be able to use voice navigation".. on the apple website it says: "Flyover and turn-by-turn navigation are available only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2 or later, and iPod touch (5th generation)." SO HOW IS IT.. I'm interested as an iPhone 4 owner.. will navigation be available, or will it only be without voice?
anyway, the iPhone 4 won't support it.
I don't see from this answer WHAT iPhone 4 won't support.. but it probably doesn't matter, I'll be smarter tomorrow.. thanks for the "answer"
Well .. such a basic thing as synchronizing contacts with social networks should have been done by a giant like Apple a long time ago .. the fact that you only come with it in iOS 6 and they still pull it out as a novelty .. that's quite embarrassing ..
Shouldn't he have gone to download by chance??
it was there before half past one yesterday. definitely don't expect them to turn it on with the blow of their full moon. file in the morning at nine. i.e. with us in the afternoon?
Do you know at what time the update will be enabled?
Here's an overview of which country iOS 6 will be released in
