We are several months away from the introduction of new versions of apple operating systems. Apple traditionally presents its systems on the occasion of the developer conference WWDC, which takes place every year in June. Their sharp deployment and making them available to the public only takes place in the fall. iOS is usually available first in September (along with the arrival of the new Apple iPhone series).

Although we will have to wait for the expected iOS 17 for a while, there is already talk about what news it could actually offer and what exactly Apple intends to bet on. And as it looks for now, the apple growers may finally get what they've been longing for for a long time. Paradoxically, it all boils down to a smaller number of novelties.

Apple is focusing on AR/VR headset

At the same time, according to the latest information, all of Apple's attention is focused on the expected AR/VR headset. This device has been in the works for years, and by all accounts, its launch should be literally around the corner. The latest speculations expect its arrival this year. But let's leave the headset as such aside for now and instead let's focus on the specific software. This particular product should offer its own standalone operating system, which will most likely be called xrOS. And it is he who plays a very key role.

Apparently, Apple is not taking the expected AR/VR headset lightly, on the contrary. That is why all his attention is focused on the development of the aforementioned xrOS system, which is why it is assumed that iOS 17 will not offer as many new features this year as we are used to from previous years. Paradoxically, this is something that apple growers have been wanting for a long time. Long-time users often mention in discussions that they would rather welcome a smaller number of novelties for new operating systems, but better optimization of the system as a whole. Apple already has experience with something like this.

Apple iPhone

iOS 12

You may remember iOS 12 from 2018. This system was almost no different from its predecessor in terms of design, and it didn't even receive a significant number of the mentioned innovations. Apple, however, bet on something a little different. It was immediately apparent that he focused on the overall optimization of the system, which subsequently resulted in improved performance and endurance, as well as security. And that's exactly what apple fans would like to see again. Although it's tempting to have new features available all the time, it's also important to make sure they work properly and don't cause any unnecessary trouble for users.

Something like that now has another chance. As we mentioned above, it seems that Apple is now mainly focusing on the brand new xrOS system, which will definitely require a lot of time and effort due to its purpose. But it is a question of how it will be in the case of iOS 17. An interesting discussion is opening up in this direction. Will the new system be similar to iOS 12 and bring overall better optimization, or will it only receive a smaller number of novelties, but without any major improvements?
