We have only recently seen the release of the long-awaited iOS 16 operating system. It brings a number of interesting novelties, led by a redesigned lock screen and a number of other novelties associated with the native applications Mail, Messages, Photos and more. Although iOS 16 was met with enthusiasm, there is still one shortcoming that is being pointed out by more and more apple users. iOS 16 degrades battery life.
If you too are struggling with poor stamina and would like to find an optimal solution, then this article is exactly for you. Now we will look together at what is actually responsible for worse stamina and how to reverse this ailment. So let's look at it right away.
Why the battery life got worse after the release of iOS 16
Before we move on to the individual tips, let's quickly summarize why the deterioration of stamina actually occurs. In the end, it is a combination of several activities that simply require a little more energy, which will subsequently lead to poorer endurance. It is mostly related to the news from iOS 16. The first stumbling block can be the automatic detection of duplicate photos. In iOS 16, Apple added a new feature where the system automatically compares images within the native Photos application and can find so-called duplicates between them. Their search and comparison takes place directly on the device (with respect to privacy and security), which of course takes some of the performance and with it the battery.
Spotlight's automatic indexing, or search, may also be to blame. Spotlight does not only index applications or contacts, but can also search directly for content within individual applications. Thanks to this, it can be used to search, for example, for specific messages, photos or e-mails. Of course, such an activity is practically the same as searching for duplicate images - it is not "free" and takes its toll in the form of battery. In both cases, however, these are activities that are most likely to take place after installing iOS 16, or they may only manifest themselves in a matter of days.
In addition, the latest information comes with an interesting novelty. Apparently, one of the most pleasant novelties - the keyboard's haptic response - also has an effect on durability. In its document on haptic feedback, Apple directly mentions that enabling this feature can affect battery life. Of course, something like this is logical - every function affects stamina. On the other hand, the haptic response probably takes a bit more energy when Apple needs to mention this fact at all.
How to extend battery life in iOS 16
Now let's get down to the important part, or how to extend the battery life in iOS 16. As we mentioned above, the functions used have an effect on the battery life. So if we want to extend it, then in theory it is enough for us to limit them in a way. So let's focus on what can help you with endurance.
Duplicate Image Search + Spotlight Indexing
Of course, first of all, let's shine a light on the first mentioned problems - searching for duplicate images and Spotlight indexing. A fairly simple tip is recommended in this regard. Leaving the device plugged in overnight with Wi-Fi on and connected should be enough. This should noticeably help you complete the processes in question, making them no longer consume as much power.
Update your apps
It's also possible that third-party apps that are not yet fully optimized for the new iOS 16 operating system are causing more power consumption. For this reason, you should head to the App Store and check if any apps require an update. If possible, do it.
Turn off keyboard haptic feedback
We already mentioned above that the haptic response of the keyboard can also be responsible for the higher consumption. Apple has added the option of haptic feedback to the iOS 16 operating system with every tap on the keyboard, which makes the phone much more alive in the hands and provides the user with immediate feedback. To turn it off, just go to Settings > Sounds and haptics > Keyboard response, where just Haptics turn off.
Check the apps with the biggest consumption
Why walk around hot mess. That's exactly why it's appropriate to directly check which applications are responsible for power consumption. Just go to Settings > Battery, where you will then see a list of applications sorted by consumption. Here you can immediately see which program is draining your battery the most. Accordingly, you can subsequently take further steps to save energy overall.
Turn off automatic background updates
Some of the energy can also be taken by the updates of individual applications, which take place in the so-called background. By turning off this function, you can increase the duration, although keep in mind that in this case the specific update will take a little longer. You can turn it off simply in Settings > In general > Background updates.
Low power mode
If you want to extend the battery life, then there is nothing easier than activating the corresponding mode. When the low power mode is activated, some functions will be deactivated or limited, which will, on the contrary, significantly increase the battery life. However, keep in mind that in such a case, there is also a partial reduction in the performance of the device.
Well, it doesn't seem to me that iOS16 would make the battery worse, on the contrary, I think it's much better.
That's not even a mistake, compared to 15 and ideally 15.4 deterioration by a quarter.
After updating to 16, when using CarPlay with music and Waze running, my phone overheats and my car won't charge it at all. With iOS 15, everything worked without a problem, not even a sign of heating. Hopefully some optimization will come :)
Just buy an android and the whole problem with Apple and iOS is over 😉🍻
Exactly, Apple shit, I'm an idiot for buying it
Moron in the theater xD
I don't monitor it much with the iPhone 13 Pro max, I have a stand with wireless charging in the chancel, so the battery is always full. But on the good old SE, after updating to 15.7.2, the battery got really bad
