We are on the Wednesday of the 34th week of 2020, and for today we have prepared a classic IT summary for you, in which we look together at the news that took place in the IT field in the past day. As part of today's summary, we will look together at a new feature of Instagram, namely the ability to manage QR codes, in the next news we will look at the improvements that Adobe brings to the Character Animator application, and in the last paragraph we will focus on the partial comeback of BlackBerry phones. Let's get straight to the point.

Instagram launches QR codes

It is necessary to constantly improve social networks and bring new things to them, and this is for the reason that their users always have something to explore and that they simply keep using the applications. One of these social networks that receives frequent updates is Instagram, which is owned by Facebook. A few days ago, Instagram presented us with a direct competitor to TikTok, in the form of Reels. Instagram was even supposed to "bribe" some prominent TikTok users to switch from it to Reels. On top of that, TikTok is currently in a lot of trouble and Reels are becoming more and more popular. However, today Instagram released another update in which we saw the addition of QR code support.

All Instagram users are now able to generate classic QR codes, which can then be scanned using any QR code scanner. Both classic users and business profiles will be able to use these QR codes. Thanks to QR codes, different companies will be able to direct users to their products or to their own Instagram account very easily. It should be noted, however, that QR codes are not a completely new matter - Instagram already introduced them in Japan at the beginning of this year, and in the latest update, only this function has spread to the whole world. If you want to explore this feature, just update the app and then simply tap on the QR codes box in the settings menu. These codes within Instagram work very similarly to the established Name tags.

Character Animator update from Adobe

The portfolio of applications from Adobe is really large. Most of us know Photoshop, Illustrator or Premiere Pro, but it should be noted that these are certainly not the only applications from Adobe that users use - they are only the most well-known. Of course, Adobe is constantly improving its applications to offer the latest news and features. As part of one of the latest updates, users got an update to the Character Animator app. As the name suggests, this application is simply used to animate characters. Character Animator is part of the Creative Cloud package, and the latest update brings news that creators will use especially when the creation is nearing the end, that is, for fine-tuning the smallest details. As part of Adobe's latest update to Character Animator, it came with a feature that can use Adobe Sensei technology to create facial animation depending on the spoken word you provide. In addition, the characters received, for example, more natural movement of the limbs and the possibility of setting the resting position, the program itself then boasts of an improvement of the timeline and much more.

The comeback of BlackBerry phones

In 2016, BlackBerry announced the end of its smartphone production. The company had to make this decision due to the low sales of the device - it was overtaken by iPhones together with Android devices. However, the BlackBerry brand is not completely done with its phones. Specifically, it sold certain rights to the Chinese company TCL, which could use the BlackBerry name. However, the contract with TCL is slowly coming to an end and BlackBerry has decided not to renew it with TCL. Instead, BlackBerry struck a deal with OnwardMobility, which has already announced its plans for the BlackBerry brand. Allegedly, next year we should expect a brand new BlackBerry phone - the main functions should be the support of the 5G network, of course a slide-out keyboard and the use of very high-quality materials. In addition, the new device should then offer a great level of security.
