Daniel Hruska If you often write longer texts on the iPad, you should definitely focus on this application in your viewfinder. iA Writer is significantly different from other pens.
So how is it different? The first thing you'll notice when you launch the app is the row-higher keyboard. In this line, in the English version, there is a dash, a semicolon, a colon, an apostrophe, quotation marks and automatic brackets. Just tap the brackets, type your text and tap it again. This is exactly how easy it is to put text in brackets. But don't count on writing nested expressions. After inserting a parenthesis and at least one character, iA Writer always inserts a closing parenthesis. Unfortunately, Czech is not yet among the supported languages of the application, so you will probably use such an apostrophe very rarely. If you set German as the main language on your iPad, you will see for example among the characters sharp "S" (ß).
But what I like most about the additional line is the navigation in the text using the arrows by one character (as you know it from the computer) and the navigation by whole words. For example, Pages is an excellent program for writing longer texts on the iPad. However, if you make a mistake that you only realize after typing a few characters, you have to stop typing, hold your finger over the wrong character, aim with the magnifying glass and make corrections. God forbid if you hit the sign next to it. In a quiet environment, you can write relatively without typos, but it is not so easy in a rattling train. Writing in the field on a software keyboard will always be about trade-offs, but iA Writer can overcome some of the ills associated with this activity.
Text formatting is completely taboo for iA Writer. Although some may miss more advanced features, there is strength in simplicity. iA Writer is here for those who really want to focus only on the content of the text and don't want to be distracted by the application itself. It also enhances this feature "focus mode" or "focus mode", which you activate with the circular button at the top right. In this mode, only three lines of text are highlighted, the rest is slightly grayed out. Scrolling up and down text and pinch-to-magnify navigation will also stop working. You are really forced to focus only on your creation on imaginary paper, everything else is superfluous and irrelevant. Finally, if you don't like the sentence just written, delete it by "swiping" to the left with two fingers. If you happen to change your mind in an instant, "swipe" to the right again with two fingers.
You can manage your documents in the pop-up menu that appears after clicking on the icon in the upper left corner of the display. Synchronization with Dropbox is a very welcome feature. The files are saved in a file with the extension TXT, the text is encoded in UTF-8. Desktop apple users can rejoice, the version for OS X is waiting for them in the Mac App Store. Compared to the version for iPad, it offers simple tag formatting. According to official website the developers are also planning a version for iPhone and possibly for Windows. The iPad version is now on sale for a nice €0,79, then don't hesitate.

I would (in general) rather welcome a period and a comma, which for reasons unknown to me Apple does not consider important. :(
You write a full stop at the end of a sentence by double-tapping the space bar. If that doesn't work for you, enable this option in the keyboard settings.
As for the keyboards, I would prefer a Dvorak layout rather than a QWERTY(Z). There is a dot and a dash by default in the places where the Q and W are.

Maybe the author should study the help before criticizing. In Pages, you almost don't use the thief - by "swiping" with one finger, you jump to letters, two to words.
And arrows for moving the text in 4 directions incl. the TextWriter application also has Home, End and other buttons.
I understand the excitement, we all have our favorite app, but reviews should be written in context, not in a vacuum, right?
And I forgot about Writeroom, where you can configure the upper bar above the keyboard yourself, put any 9 keys there, for example comma, lower quotes, upper, en-hyphen, etc.
So can it work with fonts or does it only have non-proportional fonts?
He can't. There is only one font, the one you can see on the screenshots. Apparently it's Courier New or something similar.
