Daniel Hruska An increasingly popular text editor iA Writer it is finally ready for our apple pocket devices. Some time ago we introduced the pro version iPad a OS X. Both versions have been among the top apps in the App Store and Mac App Store for a long time.
However, to avoid any misunderstanding, there is no separate iPhone version. The developers decided to create a universal application for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, which we end users are certainly pleased with. For those who have already read a review about iPad version, has some idea how iA Writer works, but repetition is the mother of wisdom.
First, one notices a different keyboard. It is supplemented by one extra line in the upper part. On the sides there are buttons for moving one character back and forth, a hyphen, a comma, a colon, a question mark and a comma (accent). Yes, it is a comma above a letter, which looks like an apostrophe on the button, but appearances are deceiving. This button then loses its meaning for Czech users, as it is already placed above the button delete. It can be said that otherwise all the most used buttons are available with one tap. But what bothers me personally is the impossibility of writing a hyphen using a longer hold on the hyphen or inserting a bullet by holding down a period. So there is nothing left but the classic procedure via the keyboard .?123 and then holding down the hyphen or period. In the middle of the top row there is still a "handle" for pulling down the keyboard.
All text formatting is done using Markdown. I will not explain the principle here again, everything important is stated in the review of the pro version OS X. It's a pity that the formatted text is not highlighted in any way directly in iZarížení. In response to my question, the developers wrote back to me that even the A5 processor is not powerful enough for real-time formatting. All that remains is for the boys from Information Architects, Inc. trust.
There is another note related to Markdown and an idea for improvements in future versions. It's nice to have some diacritical marks right under your thumb, but I would have liked even more the symbols used in Markdown in the top line. Let's face it, writing _, *, > or # requires nesting to the last layer of the keyboard. I would therefore welcome the option of choosing your own buttons. After all, everyone needs to write about different topics, and each of them requires the use of slightly different special characters.
In addition to syncing to the popular Dropbox, the option to store files in iCloud has also been added, which is of course useful if you also use iA Writer for OS X. In the menu File because the item is located iCloud and all files stored in it - simple and painless. If you are not satisfied with these two repositories, you can send the written text by e-mail or as an attachment. Instant printing is also a matter of course AirPrint.

Why is there no auto-markdown on the iPad?
The iPad's CPU is still too weak to handle the auto markdown feature. We want to add this too, but we did not find a solution that keeps up with our quality standards so far. We will try harder though.
