Spaces is one of the best ways to work with windows. You can create several different desktops and have different applications on each. However, the settings are slightly limited. And that's exactly what Hyperspaces solves.

The program itself works as a daemon running in the background and is accessible from the top bar, where it appears after installation. You then set all the functions in Hyperspace preferences, which can be accessed by right-clicking on the menulet in the system tray.

In the first tab, you can set how Hyperspaces will be displayed. You can also turn on the icon in the Dock, but in my opinion it is unnecessary. Checking the option is important On Login: Launch Hyperspaces, so that the application starts immediately after starting your computer or logging into your account.

In the second, most important tab, you can then set how the individual Spaces will look. Each virtual desktop can thus have its own background, on or off hiding of the Dock, transparency of the main bar and so on. You can also assign your own name to each screen, set the size, color and font of the inscription and let it appear in any part of the screen. Thanks to different backgrounds with text labels, it will be much easier for you to navigate in individual screens, especially if you use more than one. You know immediately which screen you are on and you don't have to orient yourself just by the small menulet number in the top bar.

The menu of shortcuts in the third tab is also practical. You can assign a shortcut to each specific screen, as well as to shuffle them, both vertically and horizontally. You can also assign a combination of buttons to the display of the switcher. In the last settings tab, you will find several other options for customizing the switcher's behavior.

The switcher I mentioned above is a small matrix view of the individual screens that appears when you click on the menulet in the system tray. By clicking on the preview, Hyperspaces will take you to the appropriate screen. You can also make a selection with the arrow keys and then confirm with enter. You will appreciate this way of changing the screen especially when there are more of them.

Hyperspaces is a nice and useful addition for anyone who actively uses Spaces, and if you're not one of them, you should at least consider using it. You can find Hyperspaces in the Mac App Store for €7,99.
