Being a hit man is no easy feat. You have to infiltrate the enemy environment, sneak around guards, take out targets in various ways and look completely inconspicuous. In short, it's not an easy task, and it will give Agent 47 a lot of work, whether on a computer or a game console. Is it even possible for Hitman to survive on the iPhone or iPad?

The creator of the series, the Danish studio Io-Interactive, coped with this difficult challenge in its own way. While he is working on the next full-fledged work with serial number six, the hitman games publisher Square Enix himself dealt with the mobile version. Its Montreal branch decided to break away from the gameplay of the previous installments and added a new, unique way of playing to the basic visual style. That's how the draft was born Hitman GO.

Yes, you read that right. Although we again find ourselves in the shoes of Agent 47, but not as part of a stealth action from a third-person perspective. Instead, from an isometric view, we look down on a map that takes the form of a physical board game. On its surface, there are rectangular paths, and various enemies are lurking on them. Hitman's task is to get from one end of the game board to the other and remain undetected. The above-mentioned movement along roads also works according to the model of board games, because it takes turns - together with the player, his enemies always move one square.

At the same time, it will be increasingly difficult to avoid them. At first, Agent 47 is met with simpler static enemies, but within a few levels they will start to move, and there will be more of them from map to map. You can get rid of these enemies if you enter their field without them seeing you - i.e. facing you. Otherwise, the Hitman is exposed and you have to start all over again.

Over time, other items and mechanisms will also appear, which will take the game a step further. The simplest example is the rocks that the Hitman can throw near enemies and knock them out of their positions. After that, he can simply bypass them or perhaps send them all to the other world at once, or off the playing field. From previous installments, the mobile Hitman has also learned to use secret paths, disguises and a sniper rifle.

If the levels alone were not enough of a challenge, the game presents three tasks in each level. You can usually fulfill the first of them automatically, the other two require longer thinking. You can achieve a perfect rating, for example, if you pick up a briefcase stored in a hard-to-reach place on the way, if you are fast enough, you don't kill a single enemy or, on the contrary, completely all of them. Completing these tasks unlocks later levels, similar to v Angry Birds whether Cut the Rope. As the game menu also suggests, there will be more levels in the future.

Due to the premium price tag, the presence of in-app purchases can be disconcerting, but they are not at all aggressive and can be completely ignored. Additional payments are only used to unlock hints for solving levels, which you can also find, for example, on YouTube. You can therefore take them more as an opportunity to additionally "evaluate" the developer.

On the other hand, it's fair to mention that a certain portion of people would obviously never do that. As it follows from the ratings in the App Store and discussions on the game servers, some veterans of the series blame the latest Hitman game for not being even remotely similar to the previous works. They thus completely - and often a priori - reject the mobile version.

But we could really expect a mere transfer Blood Money or Contracts for mobiles and tablets? Such a port would certainly be very demanding and would require a number of compromises due to clumsy touch controls. In the end, isn't it better that Square Enix decided on a completely different, but quality and self-sufficient format?

Jak he says one of the creators, "Hitman has always been a series for thinking people". And Hitman GO will reward them with innovative gameplay with a typical slow pace, a lot of challenging challenges and beautiful graphics.
