The history of mice from Apple is quite long and its beginnings date back to the early eighties of the last century, when the Apple Lisa computer was released together with the Lisa Mouse. In today's article, however, we will focus on the newer Magic Mouse, whose development and history we will briefly present to you.

1st generation

The first-generation Magic Mouse was introduced in the second half of October 2009. It had an aluminum base, a curved top, and a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support that users might be familiar with, for example, from the MacBook touchpad. The Magic Mouse was wireless, connecting to the Mac via Bluetooth connectivity. A pair of classic pencil batteries took care of the energy supply for the first generation Magic Mouse, two (non-rechargeable) batteries were also part of the mouse package. The first generation Magic Mouse was a really nice looking piece of electronics, but unfortunately it was not very well received in terms of functionality. Users complained that the Magic Mouse did not allow the Exposé, Dashboard or Spaces functions to be activated, while others lacked the center button function - features such as the Mighty Mouse, which was the predecessor of the Magic Mouse. Mac Pro owners, on the other hand, complained about occasional connection drops.

2st generation

On October 13, 2015, Apple introduced its second-generation Magic Mouse. Again a wireless mouse, the second generation Magic Mouse was equipped with an acrylic surface with multi-touch functionality and gesture detection capabilities. Unlike the first generation, the Magic Mouse 2 was not battery-powered, but its internal lithium-ion battery was charged via a Lightning cable. The charging of this model was one of its most criticized features - the charging port was located on the bottom of the device, which made it impossible to use the mouse while it was charging. The Magic Mouse was available in silver, silver black, and later space gray, and like the previous generation, it could be customized for both right and left hands. Even the Magic Mouse of the second generation did not escape criticism from users - in addition to the already mentioned charging, its shape, which was not very comfortable for work, was also the target of criticism. The second generation Magic Mouse is the last mouse to come out of Apple's workshop and which is available on its official e-shop.
