In today's installment of our series on the history of Apple products, we look back at the past, which is not too long away. We remember the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which Apple introduced in 2014.

With each new generation of Apple's iPhones, there have been certain changes, either in terms of functions or in terms of design. With the arrival of the iPhone 4, smartphones from Apple acquired a characteristic look with sharp edges, but they were also characterized by slightly smaller dimensions compared to a number of competing smartphones. A change in this direction occurred in 2015, when Apple introduced its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Both of these models were introduced at the fall Apple Keynote on September 9, 2014, and were successors to the popular iPhone 5S. Sales of the new models began on September 19, 2014. The iPhone 6 was equipped with a 4,7" display, while the larger iPhone 6 Plus had a 5,5-inch display. These models were equipped with an Apple A8 SoC and an M8 motion coprocessor. For Apple fans, the new look together with the larger dimensions of these models was a big surprise, but the news received a rather positive evaluation. Experts especially praised the "six" for longer battery life, a more powerful processor, but also an improved camera or overall design.

Even these models did not avoid certain problems. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus faced criticism, for example, due to the plastic strips of the antenna, the iPhone 6 was criticized for its display resolution, which, according to experts, was unnecessarily low compared to other smartphones of this class. The so-called Bendgate affair is also associated with these models, when the phone was bent under the influence of certain physical pressure. Another problem associated with the "sixes" was the so-called Touch Disease, that is, an error in which the connection between the internal touch screen hardware and the phone's motherboard was lost.

Apple stopped selling the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in most countries in early September 2016 when the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were introduced.
