In early June, SteelSeries announced that will release an enlarged version of its game controller for iOS devices. While the original Stratus was intended as a very compact controller, the Stratus XL is intended to bring the comfort of console game controllers in particular.
SteelSeries is a well-known manufacturer of quality gaming accessories, and the Stratus XL should not embarrass its name, unlike the first iOS controllers that appeared soon after Apple announced controller support. The Stratus XL offers an expanded button layout including analog sticks and a second pair of side buttons.
Instead of an integrated battery, it is powered by three AA batteries, which should ensure around forty hours of playing time. The controller also has a power off button to prevent draining when idle. According to the server Touch arcade the controller feels sturdy and has a pleasant matte surface and very good ergonomics.
Starting today, the Stratus XL can be purchased either directly from the SteelSeries website or from the Apple Online Store. The controller will cost $69, which is ten dollars more expensive than controllers for Playstation or XBox. The Czech price is set at 1 869 $ and it is currently in stock in the Czech Apple online store.
This Bluetooth controller is designed for both iOS devices and Mac games if they support the Apple framework. Hopefully in the future we will also see an updated Apple TV where the game controller would make even more sense.
It's a good thing that it's battery-powered, when it lasts only 4 hours.
Does anyone have it?
I know SteelSeries, their website too, but this is the first I've heard of SteelStratus.
Any links to their site?
You always know them ;-).

Do you understand why support is not needed for iPad 2? Why Bluetooth 2.0?
However, if it is to be for MAC as well, what kind of support will there be in reality? On the sales page, it doesn't even say that MAC can be used with it.
I'd rather get a Moga Rebel. It also has a full set of buttons like a console gamepad. Plus, it has an integrated flashlight, so you don't have to worry about pencils. And it has an arm that you may (or may not) attach an iPhone to. And the 6 Plus can fit there too. I think it's a much better buy. And it can be bought for two thousand.
I have the smaller model and it's great. Unfortunately, developer support is very poor and the number of games that support this controller is still very small. But the Czech Shadowgun is excellent with the controller. Those who can still use GBA4iOS know that it is fully compatible.
