It hasn't been long since Microsoft released its Office suite for the iPad, and yesterday it even released an update bringing printing support. There are currently three office packages for iOS from three major companies, in addition to Office, Apple's own solution - iWork - and Google Docs. Google Docs has long lived in Google Drive, a client for Google's cloud storage that also allowed editing documents famous for real-time collaborative editing. Editors for documents, spreadsheets and presentations are now coming to the App Store as separate apps.

Google Docs has been relatively hidden in the Drive app, and has looked more like an add-on service than a standalone full-fledged editor. In the App Store you can currently find Docs and Slide for documents and spreadsheets, the Slide presentation editor is due to arrive later. All three applications have the same range of functions as the editor in Google Drive. They will offer basic and some more advanced editing options, although they are still quite truncated compared to the web version. Live collaboration also works here, as well as files can be commented or shared further and invite other collaborators.

The biggest addition is the ability to edit and create documents offline. Unfortunately, Google Drive did not allow editing without an Internet connection, when the connection was lost, the editor always turned off and the document could only be viewed. Separate applications are finally no longer bothersome and can be edited even outside the Internet, the changes made are always synchronized to the cloud after re-establishing the connection. If you use Google Docs a lot, swapping your storage client for this trio of office apps is definitely worth it.

Although the application can store files locally, the main thing is to access files stored on Google Drive, so the application will ask you to log in to your account. If you have more than one, you can switch between them in the application. Another advantage of the application is the simplified file management, because each of them will only offer you those that it can work with, so you don't have to search the entire cloud drive, all documents or tables will be displayed right away, including those shared with you by others.

Application Docs a sheets you can download for free in the App Store, compared to Office they do not require any subscription, only your own Google account.
