After almost six years since the acquisition of the Israeli startup Waze, Google has adopted one of the most useful functions in its maps, which every motorist will surely appreciate. Google Maps now displays speed limits and speed cameras during navigation. The feature has expanded globally to more than 40 countries, including the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Google Maps is undoubtedly one of the most popular mobile navigation services today. An important role is played by the fact that they are completely free, offer really up-to-date data and also have some form of offline mode. Compared to traditional navigations, however, they lacked specific functions that would expand navigation. However, with the implementation of the speed limit indicator and speed camera warning, Google maps become significantly more useful and competitive.

Specifically, Google Maps is capable of not only pointing out static but also mobile radars. These are displayed during navigation directly on the marked route in the form of an icon, and the user is alerted to their directness in advance by an audio warning. The speed limit indicator on the given section is clearly displayed in the lower left corner, if navigation to a certain location is turned on. Apparently, the application also takes into account exceptional situations when the speed on the road is temporarily limited, for example due to repairs.

Google has been testing the display of speed limits and speed cameras for several years, but they were only available in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the Brazilian capital of Rio de Janeiro. But now the company for the server TechCrunch confirmed that the mentioned functions have spread to more than 40 countries of the world. In addition to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the list also includes Australia, Brazil, USA, Canada, United Kingdom, India, Mexico, Russia, Japan, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Italy , Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Morocco, Namibia, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.
