What is the biggest Achilles heel of modern technology? Of course it's the battery. It's not so much about durability as it is about reliability with regard to its condition, i.e. aging. And it is precisely in this respect that Apple is the master of releasing new generations of its products.

It is true that logically it depends on what kind of "dumpling" you give to your computers and phones and tablets. However, each battery can handle a certain number of cycles, after which it will remain above the 80% limit of its condition. If it falls below that, you may be experiencing non-standard behavior and need to get Apple service to replace it for you.

The M3 MacBook Air is around the corner

This year we expect the arrival of the MacBook Air with the M3 chip. Anyone who bought a MacBok Air with an M2020 chip in 1 is now quite possibly facing the fact that they would like to replace it. Not because of performance, as the M1 can still handle all the normal work, but the battery may be the problem. After all, on our editor's M1 MacBook Air, the battery reports 83% capacity. How to solve it?

Of course, it can be replaced. But when you know that Apple is preparing a new generation of devices, it pays to wait a while, upgrade to a new machine and sell the old one. If its capacity does not fall below 80%, you do not have to deal with the service yet. But if it already is, it is necessary to count on the fact that you will either sell your device cheaper, because the new owner will have to make another investment, or have the battery replaced, which will cost you something.

There are MacBook Airs with M2 chips, but considering the development, there is not much point in dealing with them now. Upgrading every generation makes sense not only in terms of a performance jump, but also in saving money. Apple thus actually offers an ideal solution to a problem, because it offers an answer at the very time when a person is solving it. In addition, the answer may come soon, in March, whether we get a Keynote or Apple releases news only with a press release. If not, there will be WWDC in June. Apart from the M3 chip, the new MacBook Air should also receive Wi-Fi 6E.

There won't be much news, but it still makes sense

Even if there will be no more, the new generation makes sense. Not for owners of machines with an M2 chip, but for those who use M1 and all those who still have computers with Intel processors. The first owners of a MacBook with an Apple Silicon chip can thus meaningfully upgrade within 3,5 years of its purchase. Of course, those who bought a Mac mini don't have this problem. So it's always something as small as the battery that holds back technological progress.

By the way, if you are also dealing with a similar problem, you can turn to bazaar portals and Facebook Marketplace to sell your device, but if you don't want to worry about the sale, there is one extremely convenient solution. Mobile Emergency Services buys mobile phones, tablets and computers. Here you will also find out the current price of your machine. And of course you don't have to deal with a battery.
