The famous Bettie Page
Notorious means both "famous" and "infamous" in English, and it is with this ambivalent meaning that the film plays with. Bettie Page grew up in Tennessee in the 30s and 40s, in an atmosphere of conservatism and strong religious sentiment. The narrative suddenly transports us from the Sunday sermons to New York in the 50s, where Bettie starts a career as a pin-up girl by managing chance. The director presents Bettie as a beautiful and chaste country girl who longs for a star career and is at all unable to understand why she is being abused. Pirates
