Restart your iPhone

If Face ID is not working for you, then before you jump into any complicated actions, restart your iPhone. Anyway, don't do it the classic way by holding down the side button. Instead, on your iPhone, move to Settings → General, where below click on Turn off, and then only swipe the slider Swipe to turn off. This method of restarting is different from the classic one and can solve several problems, including those with Face ID. If restarting your iPhone didn't help and Face ID still doesn't work, continue with the next tip.

Cleaning the sensors

Face ID is available on all iPhone X and later, except SE models. This entire system is located in the upper part of the display, specifically in the cut-out, i.e. in the Dynamic Island. In order for Face ID to work without problems, it is of course necessary that all components have a clear view of your face. So, if the upper part of the display is dirty, it can easily cause Face ID to malfunction - so try to wipe this area. iPhone 14 Pro (Max) users with the Dynamic Island, which serves as a button and can get stuck, may have the biggest problems with this. If you have a protective glass or film, make sure there is no mess or bubble under it in the Face ID area.

iOS update

From time to time, there may be a problem within the iOS system that can cause Face ID to not work on some Apple phones. If this really happens, Apple will of course learn about it in time and take the necessary actions as soon as possible to eliminate the error, within the framework of an update. Therefore, it is always necessary that you have the latest version of iOS installed on your iPhone, which contains all the latest fixes. To check for and possibly install an iOS update, just go to Settings → General → Software Update.

Reset Face ID

If Face ID still doesn't work for you, you can rush into its complete reset. This can also reactivate Face ID. However, it is of course necessary to mention that this will delete the current Face ID settings, so a new one will have to be set up. To perform a reset, just go to Settings → Face ID a code, where you can subsequently authorize yourself using the code lock. Then all you have to do is press the box Reset Face ID and action they confirmed. Then reset Face ID to see if the issue is resolved.

Hardware problem

If you've followed all the steps mentioned and your Face ID still isn't working, then unfortunately it seems to be a hardware issue. Unfortunately, Face ID is an extremely complex part of an Apple phone and can only be repaired by authorized services, as it is factory-paired with the motherboard of your iPhone. So you either decide to use an iPhone without Face ID for a while and possibly buy a new one later, or you can decide for a repair, which in most cases will be solved expensively in the form of a piece-for-piece exchange. But if your iPhone is still under warranty, don't be afraid to claim it. You can read more information about Face ID not working below in the article.
