If you've followed the Californian giant's activities in recent years, you certainly didn't miss the introduction of an ambitious charging pad called AirPower. This Apple wireless charger was supposed to be unique in that it was supposed to be able to charge up to three devices at once. Of course, any current charging pad can do this, anyway in the case of AirPower it shouldn't matter where you place your device on the pad. After several months of silence following the introduction of AirPower, Apple has decided to come out with the truth. According to him, the AirPower wireless charger could not be built to meet the high standards of the apple company, so it was necessary to withdraw from its development.

AirPower has thus become one of the biggest failures of the Californian company in recent years. Of course, Apple has canceled the development of several different products and devices during its existence, in any case, few of them were officially introduced, with the fact that customers were expected to see them in the foreseeable future. The apple company itself did not state the exact reason for the end of development, but various technology companies more or less figured it out. According to them, AirPower was simply too ambitious, and its complex design allegedly required stepping beyond the limits of the laws of physics. Even if Apple eventually managed to build AirPower, it would most likely be so expensive that no one would buy it.

This is what the original AirPower was supposed to look like:

A few days ago, Bilibili appeared on the Chinese social network video lesson from well-known leaker Mr-white showing a potential AirPower prototype. This leaker is somewhat well-known in the apple world, as he has already presented prototypes of other products to the world several times, which simply never made it to the public, or were still waiting to be introduced. Even though it is not clearly confirmed anywhere that it is AirPower, it can be assumed from the images that we attach below. This is indicated by the design itself, but above all by the complex internals, which you would look for in vain in other wireless chargers. In particular, you can notice the 14 charging coils, which are located close to each other and even overlap, and compared to other chargers, they are also much smaller. Thanks to this, Apple should have ensured that it would be possible to charge the device on AirPower without the need to place it in a certain place.

We can also notice the circuit board, which is again very sophisticated and complex at first glance compared to other wireless chargers. There were even rumors that the A-series processor from the iPhones should appear in the AirPower due to the complexity. The latter should have been needed to solve the complex tasks that AirPower would have to deal with. The biggest problem, and quite possibly the main reason why AirPower hasn't hit store shelves, is the aforementioned overlapping coils. Because of them, the entire system was most likely overheating, which could eventually lead to a fire. In the photos, you can also notice the Lightning connector, which could be another proof that AirPower really appears in the pictures. Consider that Apple effortlessly designs new iPhones and other devices every year. The fact that he failed to build the AirPower indicates how complex the project must have been.

Even though the development of the original AirPower wireless charger has been canceled, I may have good news for customers who were planning to buy it. In recent weeks, there has been more and more talk about Apple working on a new project to replace AirPower. It was also mentioned by prominent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who assumes that we could expect it after the presentation of the iPhone 12. Even in this case, I have no doubt that it could be false information. Apple does not have its own wireless charger in its online store portfolio and has to sell chargers from other brands. Customers could finally reach for an original Apple charger. In this case, however, a simpler design that would be realistic to construct is a matter of course. Unfortunately, this is still speculation and we will have to wait for some time for official information. Would you welcome the new AirPower?
