Michal Marek Probably no other phone in the world has as many different cases as the iPhone. There are literally thousands and thousands of varieties on offer. Of course, this brings with it the advantage that the customer really has an almost unlimited choice, and when he tries, he always finds exactly the case or cover he wants. The disadvantage, however, is that one can easily get lost in the offer of hundreds of different manufacturers, and choosing the right case can be a real pain.
Last week we reviewed the Epico Twiggy Matt cover on iPhone 5 or 5s. It was an inconspicuous and elegant case made of soft plastic with a thickness of only 0,3 millimeters. Such a case is sufficient protection against scratches, but it does not protect the iPhone very well from falls or rough handling. For those who require more comprehensive protection for their phone, this time we bring a look at another product of the same brand with the name Epico Hero Body.
This is a truly diametrically opposed case and espouses a completely different philosophy. Epico Hero Body is a cover made of hard and fairly strong black plastic, which tightly and consistently surrounds the body of the phone, except for the display. The case in the hand feels really robust and very durable. In addition, the plastic is probably still reinforced in the corners and the case holds its shape without any compromise.
Despite its obvious effort to be primarily reliable protection, the Epico Hero Body also tries to give a hint of style. However, the designers of the case probably did not want to compete too much with the design of the iPhone as such, and the case thus tries to copy the elegance of the device it surrounds. On the back of the cover there is a decorative aluminum plate, which, depending on the color design, partly imitates the appearance of the iPhone 5 or 5s.
A big advantage and competitive advantage of this protective case is that it protrudes slightly above the display level on the edges and partially protects it. If you place the iPhone with the display on the mat, the phone will rest on the protruding edges of the case and not on the display. Additionally, users using a film will find that their screen protector is essentially "embedded" and thus much less prone to peeling.
The cover, on the other hand, does not protect most of the top and bottom edges of the phone. Uncovering the lower part is logical, because there is a Lightning connector for charging, a speaker and a 3,5 mm headphone jack. The space for the covering plastic is essentially zero. On the upper side, however, only the power button would interfere with the cover, and the edge is still almost entirely uncovered.
The case also makes an unnecessary compromise on its side in the area of the mechanical buttons for volume control and muting the phone. This entire space is exposed, and the elongated opening is not partitioned even by a symbolic partition, which would give the shelter in this area the necessary strength. The thin strip of plastic between these buttons and the display seems to me to be unnecessarily susceptible to damage.
Despite the aforementioned shortcomings, the Epico Hero Body offers truly comprehensive protection for the iPhone, and its honest, strong plastic will protect the iPhone not only from scratches, but also, with a high probability, from potential falls. In addition, thanks to its design based directly on the iPhone, it does not look like an eyesore on the phone, which is not exactly the rule for such cases. However, unlike other cases including the already mentioned Epico Twiggy Matt, the Epico Hero Body does not have a comfortable effect when holding the angular iPhone 5, because the aluminum plate on the back does not have rounded edges that would make the phone more comfortable to hold.

probably because there is initially a shortage of new iPhones due to the fact that they are kept secret until the last moment .. I personally use lifeproof cases, the only disadvantage is that they have to be ordered through ebay etc.. but here they are usually available a year or more after release :(
