In recent years, apple users have often discussed the arrival of multitasking in the iPadOS operating system. Apple advertises its iPads as a full-fledged Mac replacement, which in the end is rather nonsense. Although today's Apple tablets have solid hardware, they are severely limited by software, which still makes them function, with some exaggeration, as mere phones with a larger screen. The entire fan community is therefore impatiently waiting to see how Apple will deal with the situation. But it's not looking too rosy for now.

Another interesting discussion was also opened in connection with multitasking for iPadOS. Apple users are debating whether multitasking will ever arrive in iOS, or whether we will see, for example, open two applications side by side on our iPhones and work with them at the same time. In that case, the users are divided into two camps, and we won't even find many supporters of this idea in the final.

Multitasking in iOS

Of course, phones in general are not exactly made for multitasking. In that case, we have to make do with a significantly smaller display area, which can be a problem in this regard. But we can at least find this option on smartphones with the Android operating system, while not on iOS. But do we really need multitasking on phones? Although this option exists in the Android OS, the truth is that almost the overwhelming majority of users have never used it in their lives. This is again related to the general impracticality that stems from smaller displays. For this reason, multitasking could only make sense in the case of larger phones such as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, while it might not be so pleasant to use with classic iPhones.

At the same time, opinions appear on the discussion forums that the possibility of running two applications at the same time is completely unnecessary. In such a case, the only possible use seems to be when we want to start a video, for example, and work in another application at the same time. But we have had this option for a long time - Picture in Picture - which works in the same way in the case of FaceTime calls. You can just as well leave them and attend to other activities, while still seeing other callers. But for that, we don't need to bring multitasking to the iOS system in the mentioned form.

Will we see a change?

As we mentioned above, other users, on the contrary, would welcome the arrival of multitasking, or the arrival of the possibility of opening two applications at the same time, with enthusiasm. Even so, we can count on the fact that we will not see any such changes in the near future. This is related to lower interest, impracticality stemming from smaller displays and other complications that could accompany the development and optimization of the change. How do you view this issue? In your opinion, is multitasking useless in the case of mobile phones, or on the contrary, would you welcome it with enthusiasm?
