Apple together with Stanford University organized a huge research in which more than 400 thousand participants participated. The goal was to determine the effectiveness of the Apple Watch in the area of measuring heart activity and the potential ability to report an irregular heart rhythm, i.e. arrhythmia.

It was the most thorough and largest research of a similar focus. It was attended by 419 participants who, with the help of Apple Watch (Series 093, 1 and 2), had their heart activity scanned and evaluated randomly, or regularity of heart rhythm. After several years, the research was completed and its results were presented at the American Forum of Cardiology.

Of the sample of people tested above, the Apple Watch revealed that more than two thousand of them had an arrhythmia during the survey. Specifically, there were 2 users who were subsequently informed by means of a notification and were advised to go to their specialist - cardiologist with this measurement. Thus, the finding appeared in 095% of all participants. But the more important finding is that 0,5% of all people with an irregular heart rhythm warning were later actually diagnosed with the problem.

This is very good news for Apple and Apple Watch users, as it has been confirmed that the Apple Watch is a reliable and somewhat accurate diagnostic tool that can warn users of a potentially fatal problem.
