Will we ever see AirPods Max 2? The headphones are more of a flop

At the end of 2020, Apple surprised us with the introduction of AirPods Max headphones. This product offers perfect sound, adaptive equalization, active noise cancellation and surround sound, while at the same time placing great emphasis on overall comfort and convenience, which are absolutely key in headphones. Although this is a really good quality product with a number of benefits, this is reflected in its price. It is (officially) 16 CZK, which is not the least. At the same time, it seems that there is not as much interest in the headphones as Apple might have expected. Will we therefore see a second generation at all?

Unfortunately, exact data is not available. Apple does not report how many units of the products it has sold, which is why it is impossible to judge how exactly the AirPods Max are doing. Fortunately, there are other clues that can help us determine whether a product is a success or rather a flop.

Undoubtedly, the price of the device itself will tell us the most about popularity and sales. It is customary for Apple that its products relatively keep their price, which in the vast majority of cases does not drop until the next generation arrives. Even then, however, it will not decrease much. In the case of AirPods Max, however, the situation is diametrically different. As we mentioned above, these headphones cost CZK 16 on the official Apple Online Store. AT authorized dealers but you can get them for almost half the price. The color design certainly plays its part in this. For example, you can buy black or blue earphones in Mobil Emergency AirPods Max for just 11 CZK, while the price for the pink model even dropped to 990 CZK. So this is a huge drop, which certainly does not bode well.

Of course, it can be argued that the target group of AirPods Max is significantly smaller. In short, headphones are not for everyone. This is therefore a similar situation to what we can see, for example, with professional Macs, but with a fundamental difference – the value of these Macs does not experience similar drops.

So the question is whether we will ever see a second generation of this product. Leaks available at the same time also speak for themselves. It is quite common for Apple that all kinds of leaks and speculations come to the surface throughout the year, which talk about possible changes to any new products. This is not the case with these headphones. Either the Cupertino giant manages to keep all the details under wraps, or the sequel is not being worked on at all. The apple makers just registered the registration of patents related to touch control and lossless sound. When we add the aforementioned price drop, it becomes clear that the journey of AirPods Max simply ends here. So whether we will ever see a sequel is a question that has more and more questions hanging over it.
