Apple officially launched Apple Pay in Canada on Tuesday and is preparing to launch its payment service in Australia on Thursday. This is the planned expansion of Apple Pay beyond the borders of the United States and Great Britain.

In Canada, Apple Pay is currently limited to cards from American Express, which is not as popular in the country as, for example, Visa or MasterCard, but Apple has not yet managed to negotiate another partnership.

Canadians with American Express cards will be able to use iPhones, iPads and Watches to pay at supported stores, and phones and tablets can also pay in apps via Apple Pay.

On Thursday, Apple is set to launch a payment service in Australia, where American Express should also be supported to begin with. Here, too, we can expect expansion among other partners, with whom Apple has not yet been able to come to an agreement.

In 2016, the plan is to bring Apple Pay at least to Hong Kong, Singapore and Spain. When and how the service could arrive in other parts of Europe and the Czech Republic is not clear. Paradoxically, Europe is much better prepared for paying with mobile devices than the United States.

Apple Pay could expand to other countries next year wait for new functions, when it would be possible not only to pay in shops, but also to send money between friends simply between devices.
