At the beginning of the week, we finally saw the introduction of the long-awaited MacBook Pro. The new generation is available in two variants, which differ from each other in the diagonal of the display, i.e. 14″ and 16″ laptops. In the case of this news, the Cupertino giant bet on a considerable amount of changes and certainly pleased a large group of apple lovers. In addition to drastically higher performance, a significantly better display, the removal of the Touch Bar and the return of some ports, we also got something else. In this regard, we are of course talking about the new FaceTime HD camera. According to Apple, it is the best camera in Apple computers to date.

The pleas of the apple growers were heard

Due to the earlier FaceTime HD camera, Apple faced sharp criticism for quite a long time, even from the ranks of Apple users themselves. But there is nothing to be surprised about. The previously mentioned camera only offered a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, which is simply pitifully low by today's standards. However, resolution was not the only stumbling block. Of course, the quality itself was also below average. Apple tried to solve this easily with the arrival of the M1 chip, which had the task of slightly improving the quality at the same time. Of course, in this direction, 720p cannot do miracles.

It is therefore completely understandable why apple growers actually complained about something similar. After all, we, the members of the Jablíčkář editorial office, also belong to this camp. In any case, the change came this year together with the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros, which bet on a new FaceTime HD camera, but this time with a resolution of 1080p (Full HD). The quality of the image should thus increase noticeably, which is also helped by the use of a larger sensor. In the end, these changes can ensure twice the quality, especially in poor lighting conditions. In this regard, Apple also boasted an aperture of f/2.0. But how it was with the previous generation is unclear - some users just estimate that it could be around f/2.4, which unfortunately has never been officially confirmed.

A cruel tax in the form of a cutout

Was this change worth it, considering the fact that along with the better camera came the top notch in the display? The notch is another area for which Apple receives a lot of criticism, specifically with its Apple phones. It is therefore not entirely clear why, after years of criticism and ridicule from users of competing phones, it brings the same solution to its laptops. In any case, the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros are not yet on sale, so it is not entirely clear whether the cutout will really be such a big obstacle or not. So we will have to wait a little longer for more detailed information. But the programs will probably be aligned below the viewport, so it shouldn't be a problem. This can be seen, among other things in this picture from the very introduction of new laptops.

At the same time, the question arises as to whether devices such as MacBook Air or 13″ MacBook Pro will also get better webcams. We will probably find out in the first half of next year. Apple fans have been talking for a long time about the arrival of a new generation of MacBook Air, which, following the example of the 24″ iMac, should bet on more vivid color combinations and show the world the successor to the M1 chip, or rather the M2 chip.
