Czech application for searching connections Connections, which we already told you about they wrote, upgraded to version 2.0. It brought a lot of nice improvements and changes. So what are the new Connections?
The entire core of the application was rewritten. Thanks to the new core, the application is faster, more stable and, above all, less demanding on data. At first glance, the entire graphical interface of the application has also undergone major changes, which is now laid out in a more logical way.
The transport option has moved to the upper left corner. If you open it, you will find that the relatively long list has been reduced to only the main types of transport, and you can then select individual cities for public transport separately. However, the city always changes dynamically according to your location, so there is no need to select it from the list of cities.
Big changes have taken place in search. The time is updated each time a new connection is searched. If you would like to use the most recently used time instead of the current time, you need to click on the time label in the header. As soon as you start entering the first letters of the stop, the application will start to suggest the names. It's not new, but you'll see a gray star to the left of the station name.
If you click on it, that station will be saved to your favorites. If you then select one of the fields at any time From/To, a list of your favorite stations will immediately appear under the search dialog. This saves you from entering the names of frequently used stops. If the name you entered has more than one matching station, then a window will appear with a menu of all alternatives. Another novelty is that instead of text, you can also enter your GPS location in the search fields, if you know it.
The list of results has also changed. You will now see the origin/destination station at the top of the list, saving space in individual entries. These now only show line numbers, departure and arrival times, mileage, time and price. At the bottom of the list, click on Další the following connection will be added. If, on the other hand, you would like to link to the previous one, "pull down" the entire list with your finger until the inscription appears at the top between two arrows Let go to get the previous connection.
Clicking on the header itself will bring up a hidden menu from where you can save the connection online (Favourite) and offline (Impose), as you know it from the previous version. The new thing is to send all listed connections by e-mail, so you don't have to send individual connections separately, but send the entire loaded list straight away.
You may remember from the previous version that links were emailed as an HTML table. Instead, you will now see a very nicely designed overview similar to what you would get on the IDOS website. The connection details have not changed significantly, only sending the connection via SMS and email now has one button Send, when you will be asked which method you will choose.
They were also redesigned Bookmarks. If you had any saved in the previous version, they will unfortunately be deleted after the update, the reason being the incompatibility of the old format. It will give you the option to save connections containing the current location - it will change according to your position during the search. So if you enter your home station as your destination, the app will find the nearest stop around your location and find you a connection home with just one click. Connections saved offline now open in a side window. So you can have several of them open at the same time.
Another new feature is the bookmark Maps. It automatically targets your location and at the same time has a search function. So it is a kind of integration of Maps directly into Connections. This tab can also be used when displaying stops on the map, from the details of the connection or when searching for the location of a specific train. Even the search for the train has received a slight improvement in the form of a whisperer.
As you can see, the new update has really brought a lot of news and if you were hesitant to buy until now, maybe this update will get you used to it. In addition, the application is still compatible with iOS 3.0, which will especially please owners of older devices who cannot or do not want to have iOS 4 in their device.
Connections - €2,39
Connections is great, the only thing missing is the option to display the details of the bus/train (from where it goes, what are the next stops, etc.). And the bug still persists: if the name of the stop is too long in the detailed listing of the connection, it will cover the departure/arrival time.
I have a question: Is this program also useful for the Slovak Republic? That is, will I find a connection in Slovakia without problems, or is there also public transport from Slovak cities?
I'm afraid not. Train and bus transport is possible, but Slovak public transport is not part of the Czech IDOS.
Thanks for the app, I use it, but it's still pretty unintuitive. I'm an experienced user, I design user interfaces, but I just didn't understand the map function when searching for a train. I also can't get "current location" in the departure field in a normal search. It would still need to be fine-tuned.
Hi, I have a question about the time.
I personally use 12-hour time and the MHD application cannot handle it. And before buying Connections, I would like to be clear about whether I will be able to use the application in the afternoon as well. :)
Thanks for the response.
I would recommend directing the question to the author of the application.
I can't find this app on the App Store. Am I alone or does anyone else have a similar problem? That they would take it down because of something? Do you have a joke?
Well, I can find it now, just a short time in the App Store.
