While the September presentation of the new iPhones and Apple Watch didn't excite or even disappoint many, there are high hopes for Tuesday's keynote. On October 30, 2018 at 15.00:XNUMX CET, Apple will most likely start introducing the future of the iPad and Mac. The following paragraphs will tell you what will be discussed and what can be expected from Tuesday's conference.

iPad Pro

We reported quite extensively here on Jablíčkář about the speculations regarding the new iPad. The main novelty of the updated iPad Pro should be a display with narrower edges and a missing Home button. The possibility of unlocking with Touch ID, which should replace Face ID following the example of iPhones, would thus disappear. The headphone jack and possibly the Lightning connector for charging should disappear from the iPads, which could be replaced by a USB-C port.

Unlike iPhones, iPads should avoid the so-called notch, i.e. the cutout in the upper part of the screen, however, compared to the latest iPhones, the edges around the display will be significantly wider. iPhones use an OLED display, but this is not expected for the new iPad generation.

There are also speculations that the new iPad should move (or add) the Smart Connector used to connect the keyboard to the shorter side of the tablet for somewhat unclear reasons. Related to this is the rather improbable assumption that the aforementioned Face ID should only work in portrait mode. According to all indications so far, face scanning will also work in the horizontal position of the tablet, which will be an added value compared to the iPhone X, XS and XS Max.

The icon of the device directly from Apple also proves that the new iPad Pro will be significantly modified in terms of design. A foreign magazine discovered this last night 9to5mac in the codes of the currently tested iOS 12.1, which should be released to the public together with the debut of the iPad.

iPad mini

The smaller and cheaper version of the iPad has not been updated for a long time, but hope dawned on it when the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that, according to him, Apple is preparing an improved version of the iPad mini. According to Kuo, it is not certain whether we will see the new model as early as Tuesday or at the beginning of next year. It is also not clear what improvements would apply to the smaller iPad.

Apple Pencil

We should expect the second version of the very popular apple stylus together with the improved iPad Pro. It should have a changed design and, in addition to improved functions, it should be possible to connect it to a device without using the Lightning port. The connection would probably be similar to that of AirPods, and it would be easier to use the stylus between multiple devices.

MacBook and/or MacBook Air

The MacBook Air, which has not been updated for a long time, arouses great expectations. It's not clear whether Apple plans to keep the line with the Air moniker or continue with just the MacBook name. In any case, many users will agree that the 13-inch version of the MacBook Air, which was the entry point to the world of Apple computers for many, is already somewhat outdated, despite its continued popularity, and its improvement is more than necessary.

Therefore, the addition of a Retina display is mainly expected, the absence of which has been one of the main pitfalls of this model so far. We can also expect narrower edges around the display, similar to the MacBook and MacBook Pro, and, of course, more powerful internals.

Mac mini

Apple has reportedly been working on the Mac mini for a long time and could present the new version to the public as early as Tuesday's conference. An improvement to the small desktop computer has been talked about for a long time, but this time it looks very promising. The Mac mini was last updated four years ago, and an upgrade to current ideals would do well. More detailed information about the upcoming changes is not yet available.

Maybe even AirPower will come…

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, at the October conference, we should also expect an upgrade of the iMac, which would have the eighth generation of Intel processors and improved graphics. There are also speculations that the AirPower charging pad revealed a year ago might go on sale, along with the AirPods wireless charging case. And maybe Apple will give us a glimpse into the future of the Mac Pro model.

There are many question marks hanging over Tuesday's conference, and the entire apple world will be anxiously watching what Apple will finally present to us in New York.
