Apple usually holds its developer conference at the beginning of June. WWDC is the largest developer gathering for Apple products, primarily focused on operating systems. But the last year has shown much more than that. So what to expect from WWDC23?

Operating system

It is 100% certain that Apple will show us here what everyone is also expecting - iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, watchOS 9. Of course, there will also be new software for Apple TV and perhaps HomePods, although they may be discussed at the opening Keynote we won't hear, because it can't be assumed that these systems will bring any revolutionary news, so that they have to be talked about. The long-speculated question is the homeOS system, which we expected last year and did not get.

New MacBooks

Last year, at WWDC22, to everyone's surprise, Apple also introduced new hardware after many years. This was primarily the M2 MacBook Air, one of the company's best MacBooks in recent memory. Along with it, we also received the 13" MacBook Pro, which, however, still retained the old design, and in contrast to the Air, it did not draw from the 14 and 16" MacBook Pros introduced in the fall of 2021. This year, we could especially expect the highly anticipated 15" MacBook Air, which could ideally round out the company's laptop portfolio.

New desktop computers

It's rather unlikely, but the Mac Pro is still in the game with its introduction at WWDC23. It is the only Apple computer still equipped with Intel processors and not Apple Silicon chips. The wait for its successor has been really long since the company last updated the computer in 2019. There would be little chance for Mac Studio, which premiered last March. It would be appropriate to show the world the M2 Ultra chip with desktop computers.

Apple Reality Pro and realityOS

The company's long-rumored VR headset is called Apple Reality Pro, the presentation (not so much the sale) of which is said to be really close. It is quite possible that we will even see it before WWDC, and at this event there will only be more talk about its system. Apple's headset will reportedly offer mixed reality experiences, 4K video, a lightweight design with premium materials, and cutting-edge technology as well.

When to look forward?

WWDC22 was announced on April 5th, WWDC21 on March 30th, and a year before that it happened on March 13th. With that in mind, we can expect an official press release with details any day now. This year's Worldwide Developer Conference should be physical, so developers should be right at the venue in California's Apple Park. Of course, everything will start with the introductory Keynote, which will present all the mentioned news in the form of presentations from company representatives.
