Non-functioning vibrations on the iPhone are undoubtedly a huge annoyance for many users. However, the cause of malfunction can often be completely banal and can easily be solved through the settings of the iPhone itself. So let's show you some tips on how to get dysfunctional vibrations working again.
A basic option for repairing malfunctioning vibrations
1. Checking sound settings
If your iPhone stops vibrating, your first steps should be to go to the settings to check if they are accidentally disabled. To do so, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings and select Sounds (or Sounds and Haptics)
- Make sure you have vibration enabled in both silent and standard mode.
2. Vibration activation check
The problem can also be that you have disabled vibrations directly in the settings. Here's how to check it:
- Go to Settings, select General and then Accessibility
- Scroll down and make sure the Vibration option is set to On
- Anyway, check if the vibration is working.
3. Restart your iPhone
If none of the above tips have activated the vibrations, try restarting your iPhone. After all, restarting often solves things that you wouldn't even hope for at first. For older models, you can do it by simultaneously pressing the Power Button and the Home button, which you will hold until the apple lights up on your display. On newer iPhones with a haptic Home Button, press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Down button again until the apple on the display lights up. You then restart iPhone X, XS, XS Max and XR by quickly pressing the power button, then the power button, and then long-pressing the Power Button until the apple appears on the screen.
4. Deactivate Do Not Disturb mode
You can encounter inactive vibrations even when the Do Not Disturb mode is active, which simply puts all notifications aside from those that you do not directly require and does not alert you to them. To deactivate Do Not Disturb mode:
- Go to settings and choose Do Not Disturb mode
- Deactivate it
or it can be disabled directly through the Control Center, where it is represented by a moon icon.
5. Update to the latest iOS
In theory, malfunctioning vibrations can also be caused by a software bug. This can be removed by simply updating to the latest version of the software if possible.
- Go to Settings, then General, then Software Update
- Select Download and Install and then follow the on-screen instructions
Check your battery and Wi-Fi connection before updating.
Advanced option to fix broken vibrations
If none of the above tips helped you, there is still no reason to panic. You can solve the problem in a more sophisticated way by restoring the iPhone. Software can greatly help you with this Gihosoft iPhone Data Recover, which is free. This software is used for iPhone data recovery and is compatible with both macOS and Windows. The software is able to recover up to 12 types of files including contacts, SMS, photos, notes or conversations in WhatsApp or Viber. Of course, the software is compatible with all the latest iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches.
The entire software is very intuitive and will help you recover lost data in virtually any situation, if it's even remotely possible. Owners of Android phones will be pleased with the fact that it is Gihasoft available for them as well, this time under the name Android Data Recovery. With software from Gihasoft, you no longer have to worry about data loss.
I have been dealing with the same problem lately. My phone wasn't vibrating and I didn't know why. When I searched in the "vibration" settings I came across only two options and they are described in the article. The first is in “Sounds and Haptics” and the second is in Accessibility – Touch”. I had both enabled so I thought it might just be HW. Unfortunately, there is one more place (actually several) where you can turn the vibrations on/off and that is in the ringtone selection itself. When it comes to ringtones, notifications, etc., you can also choose the type of vibration when choosing melodies. And wonder, you can also choose "none". And that was my case. After selecting any vibration, the phone vibrated normally. And it won't reboot the settings right away, or even the whole phone. :-)
In my case, the exact same thing happened to my hair, so Jablíčkář forgot something, but nothing happened and the master cuts it ok 👍 👌
At first I had a SE2020 mobile phone and I hated the vibration, I thought it was a fault of the phone, I replaced it with a new one, I turned it on and there was no vibration, I say to myself this doesn't exist anymore, and then I read this excerpt and I had an error in in the general settings for accessibility, vibration was not turned on, so thank you very much :))
