Missed calls are not pleasant, especially when your boss or family member is calling. So when you can't hear your iPhone ringtone or alarm because the volume is too low or it drops after the first few rings, it can be really annoying.

Usually the cause of the problem with the ringtone being too quiet or getting quieter on the iPhone is incorrect settings and volume adjustment. In some cases, however, the stumbling block can be hidden in a completely different function, where most of us probably wouldn't look for it. This is a function that is related to Face ID.

If you're having trouble with your iPhone ringtones being too quiet or getting quieter, and adjusting the volume didn't help, try to see if the attention tracking feature could be the cause of your trouble, as bizarre as this theory may seem.

  • On iPhone, run Settings -> Face ID & Passcode.
  • Enter the code.
  • Deactivate the item Attention detection.

When this feature is turned on, the TruthDepth camera checks if you are looking at the display. If it thinks it is, it will automatically lower the volume as soon as you look at the screen when your phone rings or an alarm goes off. If the problem with your iPhone is that the ringtone or alarm volume changes from loud to low, this tip is for you.
