No operating system is flawless, nor should OS X be used without maintenance, even if only minimal, and an application can be the ideal helper at such a time CleanMyMac 2 from the renowned developer studio MacPaw.
CleanMyMac 2, like the previous popular version, is a tool that makes it very easy to rid your Mac of useless and unnecessary files that slow down the entire system. However, CleanMyMac 2 is not only capable of this, it is also suitable for removing applications, automatic cleaning or optimizing the iPhoto library.
Almost everyone should theoretically find a use for CleanMyMac 2 on their Mac, unless of course they are using an alternative…
Automatic Cleanup
The so-called automatic cleaning is the function that is most easily used, and at the same time, it is usually also the most frequently used. Thanks to it, CleanMyMac 2 can scan the entire system in search of redundant files with a single click. In the clear interface, you can see exactly what CleanMyMac 2 is examining - from system to old and large files to the trash. Once the scan is complete, the application will select only those files that you can be sure you will never need and delete them with another click. The developers have made sure that the second version of CleanMyMac performs the scan as quickly as possible, and the whole process is very fast indeed. However, it depends on the size of your iPhoto library - the bigger it is, the longer CleanMyMac 2 will take.
System Cleanup
If you want to have more control over what CleanMyMac 2 cleans, you can use the additional system cleaning feature. It examines the files on the disk again, looking for a total of eleven types of unnecessary files. When the scan is done, you can manually choose which found files to delete and which to keep.
Large & Old Files
Free disk space is also related to how the entire system works. If your drive is full to bursting, it doesn't do much good. However, with CleanMyMac 2, you can see what large files are hiding on your computer, and you can also view files that you haven't used in a while. It is possible that even here you will come across data that you do not need at all and are just taking up space unnecessarily.
In a clear list you get all the important information – file/folder name, their location and size. You can also filter the results arbitrarily, by size and by the last opened date. CleanMyMac 2 can understandably delete any file immediately. You don't need to open the Finder.
iPhoto Cleanup
Users often complain that iPhoto, a photo management and editing application, often does not work completely smoothly. An overcrowded library with thousands of files can also be one of the reasons. However, you can at least lighten it up a bit with CleanMyMac 2. iPhoto is far from hiding only the photos that we see when using it. The Apple application stores a large number of original photos that were later edited and changed. CleanMyMac 2 will find all these otherwise invisible files and delete them if you allow it. Again, of course, you can choose which photos to delete and which ones you want to keep the original versions. But one thing is certain - this step will definitely get rid of at least a few tens of megabytes and maybe speed up the whole iPhoto.
Trash Cleanup
A simple feature that will take care of emptying your system recycle bin and iPhoto library recycle bin. If you have external drives connected to your Mac, CleanMyMac 2 can clean them too.
Removing applications (Uninstaller)
Removing and uninstalling apps on Mac is not as simple as it might seem. You can move the app to the trash, but that doesn't remove it completely. Support files will remain in the system, but they are no longer needed, so they take up space and slow down the computer. However, CleanMyMac 2 will take care of the whole issue with ease. First, it locates any applications you have on your Mac, including those located outside of the Applications folder. Subsequently, for each application, you can see what files it has spread across the entire system, where they are located and how big they are. You can either delete individual support files (which we do not highly recommend in terms of guaranteeing the functionality of the application), or the entire application.
CleanMyMac 2 can remove leftover files even from apps that are no longer installed, and it also finds apps that are no longer compatible with your system and safely removes them.
Extensions Manager
A number of extensions also come with some applications such as Safari or Growl. We usually install them sometimes and don't care too much about them anymore. CleanMyMac 2 finds all these extensions that have ever been installed in different applications and presents them in a clear list. You can delete individual extensions directly from it without having to activate the respective application. If you are not sure whether you can delete the given extension without jeopardizing the functionality of the application, just disable this part in CleanMyMac 2 first and if everything is fine, only then remove it permanently.
Eraser
The shredder function is obvious. Just like a physical shredder, the one in CleanMyMac 2 ensures that no one can get to your files. If you have deleted some sensitive data on your Mac and don't want it to fall into the wrong hands, you can bypass the recycle bin and delete it right through CleanMyMac 2, which guarantees a fast and safe process.
And if you don't know which function to choose? Try taking a file and dragging it to the application window or its icon, and CleanMyMac 2 will automatically suggest what it can do with the file. When you're done cleaning, you can still share your results on social media and send to friends. If you want your Mac to be taken care of regularly, CleanMyMac 2 can schedule regular cleanings.
For its excellent tool "for a clean Mac", MacPaw charges less than 40 euros, i.e. roughly 1000 crowns. It is not a very cheap matter, but those who taste how CleanMyMac 2 can help, probably will not have a problem with the investment. Despite the fact that applications from MacPaw are often found in various events, so it is possible to purchase them significantly cheaper. For example, CleanMyMac 2 was included the last one Macheteist. Those who purchased the first version of the application are also eligible.

So how is it! First of all, an article about how all those cleaners for mac are actually a waste of time and space and maybe even personal data. And now it's a blast?!
This is exactly what I thought too! The author probably received a decent fee, otherwise I can't explain this paradoxical article...
Personally, I think the author of the article bought the macheist bundle and is excited about how cleanmy mac works because he has never used anything before and thought it worked fine. Over time, the excitement fades, but it's understandable - a nice eye candy gui is also a bonus, which also nicely explains what's going on. Yes, plug-in-your-head work works, but this way with this program it's "simpler" - it reminds you of what you might forget :)
Ad redakce jablickare is a team of people that unites the editor-in-chief, it is not a company that goes after its product/service. It's true that it worked with that picture - it was fun :)
You'd be surprised how two editors of the same editorial office can have different opinions on something :) But that's pretty good, isn't it? Or maybe you don't use your own head and take everything that is written here or elsewhere as your opinion? Looks like it. And now there is a problem, because the two articles contradicted each other and you need someone to tell you what is the right thing to think :-)
And by the way, Clean My Mac was mentioned in the article about antiviruses, and I have to agree that it probably won't be of any use. But as a stand-alone application that will clean up your disk with you? Why not, I'm happy with her.
I don't know about you guys, but I've had MB for three years, and for three years the system has been running fine without any cleaning or anything :)
I, therefore, would not be able to function without occasional cleaning of the system (Cocktail, MainMenu, etc.).
The same as on Wine, I even had to manually read some files in system hidden folders because it is so stupid that it did not delete them itself (mainly because it wrote that help me, I don't have space on C anymore) and even with the standard application for cleaning did not remove them once and they were only temporary temp files. But with that system, it's like a person just waves his hand, but with Mac OS I think he manages it very well himself, but I might try the reviewed app to see what it actually throws up for me :)
If it's not an unnecessary rant... My 4,5-year-old iMac runs quite smoothly on CS5 and I haven't done any cleaning once. I use demanding applications and it's not really necessary anyway.
I'm pretty confused about that too. One says this and the other that. And when both opinions are from the editor of the same website, it confuses me doubly.
recently there was an article where this program was named as "unsuitable", so how is it?
This application was definitely not named as inappropriate.
I sent a screenshot and a link to the March article. I believe that when you approve it, you will change your mind. nothing but misleading in March "Do not install any of these programs at any cost!" and in April "MacPaw charges less than 40 euros for its excellent 'clean Mac' tool"
Thanks for the tip, I'll use it ;-)
It's interesting that only the author praises it and can't work without it, other MACs have been treading on it for years and nothing??
This is what's bothering me :D It looks like a paid article, but it's not used here, is it? :)
This is not a paid article. In short and well, I only have good experiences with the application, so why can't I praise? If someone doesn't need it, please, that's possible, but for me it's a handy helper. In addition, I would be interested in whether MacPaw would need to pay for an article in the Czech Republic. People here will not even pay a euro for an application, let alone several times more. Even if they get referrals.
I'm watching Ondro, every Cupertino expert is erasing you here.
I'm probably a llama, but I've been hauling around a lot of junk since Panther, mostly in the iPhoto library. During that time, I've tried everything possible, from Onyx to everything (including purchased Pather/Tiger/Leopard/Snow Lepard/Lion Cache Cleaner, MainMenu Pro), but I'm not afraid to use CleanMyMac 2 and it effectively helps me save space, delete forgotten working versions of designs, etc. Especially after switching from an iMac and MBP to an MBA with a smaller SSD, it really hurts. Especially when I throw things from photobanks, snapshots for inspiration, etc. into the iPhoto library and sync it to the iPad and iPhone, the mess grows at a tremendous speed.
Helpful review, ditch the bullshit.
like don't be mad at me, but 40s for something that just deletes a few files is quite extreme.. Just don't be a pig and don't install all the crap.. Go 40s :D
My fault. I thought only MacKeeper was named, although it probably wouldn't have mattered. And since we've already published two such articles, I have to counter that CleanMyMac should perhaps be slowing down your system. I have no such experience with this app.
This is not needed.
So I don't know, I don't have school :). Could I ask for an explanation of how the files sitting on the disk, to quote from the article: "slow down the computer"? I would understand if the disk is completely full, but otherwise I don't know. Thanks
By removing files with language versions, the computer speeds up at least forty to eighty times :-)
The fact is that if the program created the auxiliary files, and I delete them, then it will have to create them again, which will slow down ... or it will not start the system, which I have solved twice. But that's probably just a repeated individual case...
The reality is that switchers are used to dragging mores from Woken to Mac. As I wrote: Let's leave Widows problems to Windows users :-) http://jablickar.cz/nejlepsi-antivir-pro-mac/
The fact is that some users have a Mac just to test how long it can last, what is the difference between Mac and Windows, and they are the ones who are grateful for the software aimed at users' wallets. Conversely, anyone who needs a computer for work has absolutely no time to deal with such nonsense as deleting files with language versions. I don't know, but the saved 50 MB doesn't make much sense to me, when the file in Photoshop, iMovie, Pixelmator, Final Cut or others is on the order of hundreds of MB to GB...
On the contrary, I can warmly recommend the mentioned software to everyone who does not have a Mac for work, but only for "playing". It will certainly be very comforting for them to feel that they have deleted all 42 MB of unnecessary files and that they have speeded up their computer by a full 0,04 percent.
I really like Ondřej's other articles.
Well, with Clean My Mac 2 I deleted about 50 GB of unnecessary data (languages, iphoto duplicates, forget the big binarkt, etc.). What did wonders at home fusion (how much of it was probably on the ssdck?)
I bought it in a bundle, I wouldn't pay $40 for it. But it's easy to delete a lot of data. As you say, people who need to work don't have time to manually browse the disk and look for large files that they no longer need.
Plus the complete uninstallation, management of extensions, etc. I was a big skeptic, but CMM2 is really great.
I have to say that this is going in the same stupid direction as the general internet media. Just commercial sr…. written by an inexperienced editor. Where are the Apple gurus from the days of KPPM (intentionally, those of you who know what that acronym stands for).
As I've written several times on various forums: MacKeeper and Clean My Mac programs are useless, and I saw a colleague on a 27" iMac how MacKeeper for $80 slowed down his entire computer.
If you want to maintain the system and clean, use current Onyx, fix rights and run monthly, weekly and daily maintenance scripts. Appzapper is suitable for uninstallation. Further maintain the disk with the system's Disk Utility and you can reset the PRAM here and there. There is nothing better and you can't think of it, believe it!
If you have a slow Mac on a 10.7.x system, go to 10.8.x or 10.6.8. There is no better system (I mean speed, response) than 10.6.8 on Mac. New Macs where you can't install 10.6 have no choice but to put 10.8.
In my opinion, SL is the most successful version of OSX on the market, and the difference (at least for me) is that it has a 20 degree lower temperature when working (chrome, sublime, git). I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Apple that 10.9 does better than 10.8. By the way, I have the latest version of the MBP, which runs SL - late 2011 i7, so I'm not a lazy person who should be sweating while working on ML...
Mac is not Windows, even if it doesn't need much oven if you know how to behave on a PC.
I have a gaming PC that has been running for a good three-quarters of a year without any problems or slowdowns, and I didn't need to install any "smart" app, but today I tried ccleaner, except for the 500MB cache after the Windows update, it didn't find anything else, just a few small things in the registries.
But back to the topic, in more than 4 years of using OSX (I always note 10.6.8) I have not used any of the mentioned applications and I don't even need to, why? I just don't see any slowdowns, problems or lengthy uploads. I really feel sorry for people who are willing to pay for such applications and I believe that they are worth nothing except for the app bundle, because they are basically worthless and thus give the feeling that you have saved a lot of money. You download Onyx, when you remember, turn it on once a month, run rights repair and monthly/weekly/daily maintenance, install any patches and restart. That's all. I have friends who, after a month of use, have OSX listed for some kind of inconsistency and are surprised that the system is slow, etc. However, the system is not foolproof... if you don't install any nonsense, properly uninstall apps and occasionally take care of the OS as mentioned above, your system can survive without any problems for 10 years without the need for reinstallation...
dear readers, it's a pity that all the smart people who recommend nonsense like the one mentioned in the article above don't read it...
