A big problem with the first Macs with an Apple Silicon chip, namely the M1, was the inability to connect more than one external display. The only exception was the Mac mini, which managed two monitors, which means that all these models can offer a maximum of two screens. So the big question was how Apple would deal with this in so-called professional devices. The MacBook Pro revealed today is the clear answer! Thanks to the M1 Max chip, they can handle the connection of three Pro Display XDR and one 4K monitor at the same time, and in such a combination the MacBook Pro offers a total of 5 screens.

At the same time, however, it is necessary to distinguish the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. While the more powerful (and more expensive) M1 Max chip can handle the above-mentioned situation, the M1 Pro unfortunately cannot. Even so, it is close behind and still has a lot to offer. But as far as connecting displays is concerned, it can handle two Pro Display XDRs and another 4K monitor, i.e. connecting a total of three external displays. Additional screens can be specifically connected via three Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) connectors and an HDMI port, which has finally returned to its place after a long time. In addition, the new laptops can be pre-ordered now, with them arriving at retailers' counters in a week.
