It is well known that the Google Chrome Internet browser, despite its many advantages, is also to some extent the weak point of any laptop. Chrome consumes much more energy than, for example, Safari on Mac or Internet Explorer on Windows, for one simple reason – unlike its competitors, it is not able to save energy and performance by suspending flash elements on the page. At least he wasn't until now, the change comes only with latest beta version Chrome.

Flash is infamous for its energy gluttony and overall demandingness. Apple has always opposed this format, and while iOS doesn't support it at all, a special plugin must be installed in Safari on Mac to play it. Safari also has a handy battery-saving feature that causes Flash content to run only when it's in the center of the screen or when you click to activate it yourself. And Chrome is finally coming up with something similar.

It is not known why such a vital feature, the absence of which has troubled many users, is coming so late. This may be because they had many other and more pressing issues to deal with at Google. She got priority, for example Chrome update for iOS, which is understandable given the importance of mobile platforms. In addition, Chrome is so popular on computers and in many ways unattainable that they could simply afford to procrastinate in Google.

However, the update really had to come, and its need was proven, for example, by a recent review of the latest MacBook by The Verge magazine. The one she showed, that during the same stress test using the system Safari, the MacBook with Retina display achieved 13 hours and 18 minutes. However, when using Chrome, this MacBook was discharged after only 9 hours and 45 minutes, and that's a really striking difference. But now Chrome is finally getting rid of this disease. You can download beta version with the description: "This update significantly reduces power consumption."
