Former Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts was among the highest paid employees. She left the company last month, but spoke about her experience in an interview on LinkedIn's Hello Monday podcast. In it, she revealed, for example, that at the beginning of her work at the company, she was extremely insecure.

Her fears were not completely understandable - Angela Ahrendts from the fashion industry stepped into the hitherto unknown world of technology. By the time she joined Apple, she was 54 and, in her own words, far from being an "engineer with a well-developed left hemisphere." After taking office, she chose the tactic of silent observation. Angela Ahrendts spent her first six months at Apple mostly listening. The fact that Tim Cook roped her into Apple gave her a sense of security. "They wanted you for a reason," she repeated to herself.

Among other things, Angela said in the interview that during her time at Apple, she gradually learned three main lessons - not to forget where she came from, to make quick decisions, and to always remember how much responsibility she has. She realized that Apple is about more than just selling products, and from this realization was born the idea of a design and organizational overhaul of Apple Stores, which, according to Angela's own words, lacked art.

Angela Ahrendts joined Apple from fashion firm Burberry in 2014. At the time, there was even speculation that she might become the company's next CEO. Not only did she receive a generous starting bonus, but she was also generously compensated throughout her tenure at Apple. She oversaw a major redesign of Apple Stores worldwide as well as a massive increase in stores in China.

She left the company without any further explanation earlier this year, and it is not clear from the relevant statements whether she left voluntarily or not. The circumstances of Angelina's departure remain a mystery, but she discussed the progress of her work at Apple and other interesting topics in the aforementioned thirty-minute podcast, which you can listen here.
