We asked all mobile operators operating in the Czech Republic whether they will reduce the price of non-subsidized iPhones thanks to the opening of the Apple Online Store in the Czech Republic.
V apple store the 16 GB phone costs CZK 14, you can buy the 490 GB version for CZK 32. With operators, you will pay over CZK 16 for an unsubsidized iPhone 990 GB, the 16 GB model costs almost CZK 16!
Telefónica Czech Republic, as, Vokounová Blanka
Apple iPhone prices remain the same. The prices are either in the basic variant or with a minimum monthly payment, when the customer can get below the threshold of CZK 10 for an iPhone 000 4 GB.
I asked about a non-subsidized phone. As a thinking client, try to tell me the only reason why I should pay more than CZK 16 on top for the same model (1200 GB) with you? Do you think that customers will buy an unsubsidized phone from you at this price?
The customer can purchase a whole range of services from O2 – calls, fixed internet, mobile internet, digital TV and more. One of our other activities is the sale of mobile phones. However, it is not our main focus as it is with mobile phone manufacturers.
Of course, the customer has the option of choosing where to buy his phone. Everyone makes decisions based on different criteria, it's not always just the price. Thanks to the combination, we offer customers who purchase voice or data services from us discounted prices for other services or products, including mobile phones.

In connection with the opening of the Apple Online Store, we do not plan to change the prices of Apple devices. We (nor any distributor) cannot go too low with the price, because we pay for the second year of warranty, which we have to allow the customer by law, out of our own money. It is interesting - and illegal from the point of view of Czech law - that the mentioned e-shop only provides a 1-year warranty. This probably allows him to offer lower prices.
If the price stays the same and the customer gets a 2 year warranty, do you think your clients will buy the unsubsidized device from you - when it is more expensive?
We'll see, I wouldn't like to speculate yet.
Vodafone Czech Republic as, Houzarová Alžběta
As products near the end of their life cycle, it is natural for their price to decrease.
Summary: mobile operators say almost in one breath that they are not going to make the iPhone cheaper just yet. Let's wait for the launch of the iPhone 5 and how this model changes prices and tariffs. My very optimistic guess is that there will be at least cosmetic discounts. If we are realistic, prices will remain at the same level as before. Skeptics will not be surprised if the price of the phone and tariffs goes up again.
I wonder if it's with the one year warranty at the apple store. If I'm not mistaken, Apple is violating the laws of the Czech Republic with this step. Or is it different?
As the Apple subsidiary operating the store operates from Ireland, Irish law applies to the store. And Ireland also has an exception to the European regulation that says the warranty is governed by the laws of the buyer's country. So legally everything is fine.
I'll make it more specific. The first year - the warranty as we know it. Second year - Apple will accept the product under warranty only if you have a specialist confirm that the warranty repair request is justified. But it's from a discussion on another Apple server, maybe they changed it, at least according to what the infoline says. See below me. Although it can actually be considered a two-year warranty. A mistake on my part.
You are wrong. The shop is operated exclusively for customers in CR and VAT is paid in CR. Of course, I get everything from their website, where it is stated. And of course the warranty is 2 years. Don't believe everything you read on fan sites...
Nonsense. The second year of the warranty applies and you don't have to take it to any specialist. You just give/send it back to Apple.
The warranty does not apply to mechanical damage, e.g. falling from a height.
Alright I got it. But I don't know why they show a one-year warranty everywhere on their website and you have to find out the second year in a complicated way.
Take it as just wordplay. One year warranty from Apple, the second according to Czech legislation.
The complex investigation took me about 2 minutes on the phone. By the way, a 1-year warranty is also listed on German websites, for example.
I would hate to take away your optimism, but Apple has only provided a one-year warranty to anyone selling mobile phones. According to the information I have from the Apple representative, the warranty is only one year. It would be quite strange if they wrote everywhere that the warranty is one year and then gave two years, don't you think? They will fix it after a year, but the price will be around 200 Euros. By the way, in Germany, for example, the one-year warranty is perfectly fine, they distinguish between warranties (1st year) and guaranties, while offering the customer the option of purchasing a full warranty for the 2nd year.
she is two years old…
by the way, they didn't surprise me, I hope people won't be stupid (again) and won't buy the phone from them overpriced...
Question on the Apple infoline (800 701 391): what is the warranty for Apple products?
Answer: the warranty is two years.
It's a good thing that you can buy an iPhone directly from Apple. I estimate that in Slovakia the iPhone 4 with 8GB will cost EUR 549, the iPhone 4s with 16GB EUR 699 and the iPhone 4s with 32GB EUR 899. And the Apple Online Store will be in Slovakia in 2 years at the earliest :-(
I wonder how the T-Mobile spokesperson will respond to the question of why HTC phones are so much cheaper when HTC only pays for half a year of warranty? Who pays for the remaining year and a half??
Let the operators pull their antenna :) It's true that not everyone goes after price alone, but in this case I see no reason why I should buy a new iPhone from VF, for example, when the online Apple store itself has it cheaper...
So I think that they rely on the fact that you will not only buy a phone, but also some service (tariff, internet, etc.) as the O2 spokeswoman already said. So it's logical that if you want to start with that operator, it's worth buying an iPhone there with all the accessories, but if you just want the new version, it's definitely from Apple :-)
I can't understand that all Czech companies sell quality goods 3 times more here than everywhere else in the world, when wages are 3 times lower here. And I still can't understand why we're buying it :/
