Finding the ideal wireless sports headphones these days could be exaggeratedly compared to finding a life partner. In both mentioned cases, you want quality, certainty, an acceptable appearance and mutual compatibility. I met my life partner a few years ago, but unfortunately I was not so lucky with headphones suitable for any type of sport. Until I hit the road with the Jaybird X2.

Already during the first meeting, a spark jumped between us. The fact that it was the first ever in-ear headphones that did not fall out of my ears during every step had its biggest part in this. I've bought quality wired and wireless headphones many times, but they never fit me properly. While walking, I constantly had to hold them in different ways and put them back in their place. Jaybirds, on the other hand, feel like concrete in the ear, at least in mine, but I believe that will be the case for most users.

Jaybird X2 sports headphones rely on a wide range of ear tips and stabilizing fins. In the package, you will also find a box with three silicone attachments in sizes S, M and L. If for some reason they do not suit you, the manufacturers have also added three Comply attachments to the box. These are made of memory foam and adapt to the shape of your ear.

The Comply earpieces just need to be lightly crumpled and inserted into the ear, after which they expand and seal the space perfectly. After removal, the earcups naturally return to their original state. For even more thorough anchoring, you can also use flexible stabilizing fins, again in three different sizes. They simply cling to the folds in the ears.

The Jaybird X2 are clearly built as sports headphones, which is also indicated by their construction and design, but there is no problem to work with them normally while walking or at a table.

Stable connection with Apple Watch as well

With wireless headphones, I have always dealt with their range and connection quality. As Jaybirds are mainly for sports, the developers have taken great care in this area and the Bluetooth connection is stable not only with the iPhone, but also with the Apple Watch. Quality connection is ensured by SignalPlus technology inside the headphones. During my month of testing, I never had the headphones disconnect by themselves. I was even able to leave the iPhone on the table and walk around the apartment with no problems - the signal never dropped out.

Another issue that often put me off with wireless headphones was their weight. Manufacturers always have to find a suitable location for the battery, which also entails size and weight requirements. Jaybird X2 weighs only fourteen grams and you can barely feel it in your ear. At the same time, the battery lasts a very respectable eight hours on a single charge, which is more than enough for normal activity.

The charging slot was also effectively solved by the manufacturers. In the package, you will find a sturdy, flat cable that just needs to be placed in the microUSB port, which is hidden inside the handset. Nowhere does anything scratch or disrupt the overall design. The headphones themselves are made of plastic and are connected by a flat cable, thanks to which they sit comfortably around your neck. On one side of it you will find a plastic controller with three buttons.

The controller can turn on/off the headphones, control the volume, skip songs and answer/end a call. In addition, it can also control Siri, and when you turn on Jaybirds for the first time, you will recognize the voice assistant Jenny, who will notify you about the status of the headphones (pairing, on/off, low battery) and also enable voice dialing. Thanks to this, you can do without visual control of the status and entered commands, and you can fully concentrate on your performance.

The low battery voice warning comes about 20 minutes before it is completely discharged. A bonus for iOS devices is the usual X2 battery status indicator in the right corner of the display. There is also an LED indicator on the right earcup, which indicates battery and power status from red to green and flashes red and green to indicate the pairing process. Jaybirds can also store up to eight different devices to jump between at will. The headphones will then automatically connect to the nearest recognized device when switched on.

Great sound for sports

In most cases, wireless headphones do not offer as flawless and clear sound as their wired counterparts. However, this is not the case with the Jaybird X2, where they paid equal attention to both the design and the resulting sound. The very balanced and clear sound is mainly due to the proprietary Shift Premium Bluetooth Audio codec, which uses the native SBC Bluetooth codec, but with a much higher transmission speed and wider bandwidth. The frequency range reaches from 20 to 20 hertz with an impedance of 000 ohms.

In practice, it doesn't matter what genre of music you listen to, because the Jaybird X2 can handle anything. I was surprised by the balanced bass, mids and highs, even though harder music can appear quite vigorous and sharp. So it depends not only on what you listen to, but also on how loud you set the music. The integrated Puresound filter system also safely takes care of the elimination of unwanted noise and ultimate sound clarity.

For athletes, the Jaybird X2 headphones are the perfect combination of a great design with minimal dimensions and excellent sound that you can really enjoy anywhere. When working out in the gym or running, when you practically don't feel the headphones in your ears, and what's more, they almost never fall out.

Of course, you pay for quality, Jaybird X2 you can buy it at EasyStore.cz for 4 crowns, but on the other hand, in the world of wireless headphones, such parameters are not a fundamentally excessive amount. There are five color variants to choose from and the fact that Jaybirds are among the top in the field of wireless headphones is also confirmed by numerous foreign reviews. I have already found my ideal headphones for sports...
