Banking and finance company Barclays has published an analysis by a group of its internal analysts who spent the last few days in Asia gathering information from Apple's various subcontractors. Based on this information, they put together information about how some specific products are performing. Considering the origin of the information, we can expect it to have (in contrast to similar reports) a very decent informational value.

The analysis confirms once again how huge a hit the wireless AirPods are. They are currently sold out again on the official website and the waiting period is about two weeks. There has been huge interest in AirPods since their release the year before last. They were stably available on Apple's official website sometime last fall. However, as Christmas time approached, availability worsened again. Analysts expect Apple to sell around 30 million units of headphones this year. The interest in AirPods must be really high considering that Apple is not able to produce sufficient quantities even after more than a year and a half. We will not know the sales figures as such, as Apple does not publish them in this case. Sales of AirPods fall into the "Other" segment, which in the case of last year grew by 70%.

The newly released HomePod wireless speaker also falls into the same segment. However, unlike AirPods, sales of HomePod are not so cheerful. According to information from suppliers, customer interest in the new speaker is lukewarm. This can be due to several reasons, one of them being the higher price. Maybe that's why in recent days there have been rumors that Apple is preparing a cheaper (and smaller version), which should appear on the market within a year. For now, however, this is only speculation.

We should expect two new products to be introduced in the near future. The first of these will be the AirPower wireless pad, which Apple first showed at last fall's keynote. The second should be the new AirPods. In this case, however, the question is whether Apple will present only an upgraded version with a case that supports wireless charging, or whether completely new headphones will arrive, which should have newer hardware, support for voice gestures, etc.
