In recent days, there has been more skepticism about the AirPower wireless charging pad. Many people expected Apple to introduce it at the keynote. As we all know, in the end it didn't happen, and to top it all off, internal information about the problems that the engineers have to solve with the development of this product got on the web. Many began to succumb to the feeling that we will not see AirPower in its original form after all, and that Apple will slowly and quietly "clean up" the product. However, the boxes of the new iPhones indicate that it might not be so pessimistic after all.

Starting today, first-time owners can enjoy their new iPhone XS and XS Max if they live in first-wave countries where the news is available starting today. Attentive users have noticed that the AirPower charger is mentioned in the paper instructions that Apple bundles with iPhones. In connection with the possibility of wireless charging, the instructions state that the iPhone must be placed with the screen facing up either on a charging pad using the Qi standard or on AirPower.

When the mention of AirPower appeared here as well, we can hardly expect that Apple walled off the whole project. However, the mention in the accompanying documentation from iPhones is not the only one. More new information has surfaced in the iOS 12.1 code, which is currently undergoing closed developer beta testing. There have been updates to several parts of the code that are responsible for managing the charging interface of the device and are there precisely for the functioning and proper communication between the iPhone and AirPower. If the software interface and internal drivers are still evolving, Apple is probably still working on the charging pad. If the first changes appear in iOS 12.1, AirPower may finally be closer than expected.
