Apple is strengthening Apple ID security, now allowing users to activate and use two-factor authentication when signing in. In addition to the password, you will also need to enter a four-digit numerical code...

To use double verification, it is necessary to register one or more so-called trusted devices, which are devices that you own and to which a four-digit numerical code for verification is sent, if necessary, through the Find My iPhone notification or SMS. You will need to enter this next to your password if you get a new device and want to use it to log in to your account or make purchases in iTunes, the App Store or the iBookstore.

Along with activating two-factor authentication, you will also receive a 14-digit recovery key (Recovery Key), which you will keep in a safe place in case you ever lose access to one of your devices or forget your password.

If you use two-factor authentication, you will no longer need any security questions, they will replace the new security. However, this system will also require a new password, which must contain one number, one letter, one capital letter and at least eight characters. If you don't have such a password yet, you will have to wait three days for a new one to be verified before switching to two-factor authentication.

During the activation of the new security, the user selects at least one trusted device and sets how the security code will be sent to him. The procedure is simple:

  1. Visit the website My Apple ID.
  2. choose Manage your Apple ID and log in.
  3. choose Password and security.
  4. Under the item Double verification choose Start and follow the instructions.

More about the new security can be found on the Apple website. However, the service is not yet available for Czech accounts. It is not yet clear when Apple will release it for domestic users.
