The internet is full of stories about how the Apple Watch saved its owner's life. But this particular case from Great Britain deserves attention mainly because of the police's reaction. Representatives of the relevant police department posted on twitter account information that they were called to a car accident in which the driver was unconscious. The SOS function of the Apple Watch, which the driver was wearing at the time of the accident, took care of calling the security forces.

"Last week we responded to an automatic Apple Watch alert on the wrist of an unconscious man," reads the tweet, which includes emojis of a watch, a satellite and rescue system vehicles. Police also tagged Apple CEO Tim Cook in the relevant post. The tweet states that the driver was knocked unconscious as a result of the accident and his Apple Watch alerted the police after the fall detection function on it was activated. The watch also sent GPS data to the police to locate the scene of the accident more quickly.

The fall detection function has been part of the Apple Watch since the release of Series 4. For users over 65, the function is automatically activated, younger users must activate it manually. Ever since Apple introduced this feature to newer Apple Watch models, there have been many cases where Apple's smartwatch has been credited with saving a life. In addition to the fall detection function and automatic emergency call, the heart rate irregularity warning function also plays a role in saving people's lives.
