Alongside the new iPhone 14 (Pro) series, Apple also introduced a trio of new Apple Watches. Specifically, these are the expected Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE and the brand new Apple Watch Ultra. The options of the apple watch have thus again moved a few steps forward and thanks to interesting news, they have won the favor of the fans themselves. Of course, the Apple Watch Ultra is the most interesting in terms of features. These are intended for the most demanding users, and therefore have significantly higher durability, better resistance and a number of other exclusive functions.

However, in this article we will focus on the "basic" models, namely the Apple Watch Series 8 and the Apple Watch SE 2. If you are thinking about getting one of these two models and are not sure which one is the best for you, then definitely pay attention to the following lines.

Differences between Apple Watch

First, let's shine a light on what the Apple Watch has in common. The Apple Watch SE can generally be described as a cheaper model that combines first-class features in the price/performance ratio, although it lacks some. In the case of both models, we would find the same Apple S8 chipset, resistance to dust and water, optical sensor for heart rate measurement, 18-hour battery life, new car accident detection and many others. In short, Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch SE 2 are very similar, not only in terms of design, but also in terms of capabilities.

On the other hand, we can also come across a number of differences that can be quite fundamental for some users. As can be seen from the attached table above, Apple is able to offer the Apple Watch SE 2 significantly cheaper thanks to the fact that it does not have many functions and sensors. We can summarize this very briefly. In addition, the Apple Watch Series 8 offers the option to measure ECG, blood oxygen saturation, body temperature, has a larger display thanks to reduced bezels, supports fast charging and, in the case of more expensive versions with a stainless steel case, even has a front sapphire glass. These are precisely the features that we cannot find in the cheaper Apple Watch SE 2.

Apple Watch Series 8 vs. Apple Watch SE 2

But now let's move on to the most important thing - which model to choose in the final. Of course, if you want to have access to all modern technologies and to use the possibilities of the Apple Watch to the maximum, so to speak, then the Series 8 is a relatively clear choice. Likewise, if your priority is to have a smartwatch with a stainless steel body, then you have no other alternative. The cheaper Apple Watch SE 2 is only available with an aluminum case.

On the other hand, not everyone needs all the bells and whistles of the newer Apple Watch. As we already summarized above, the standard Apple Watch Series 8 only offers an ECG, blood oxygen saturation measurement, a temperature sensor and an always-on display. In all cases, these are great gadgets that can be of great help. But that doesn't mean that everyone has to use them. Among apple users, we can find a number of users who have almost never used these options, as they are not their target group. So, if you are interested in an Apple watch and stick to a budget, or want to save on it, then it is important to think about whether you actually need the mentioned functions. Even the cheaper Apple Watch SE 2 can make your everyday life significantly easier - they function as an extended hand of the iPhone, they are used to receive notifications or phone calls, they are easy to handle with monitoring sports activities or even do not lack important functions such as detection of a fall or a car accident.

Price

Finally, let's take a look at them with regard to the price. The basic Apple Watch Series 8 is available from CZK 12. However, it should be noted that this price refers to models with an aluminum case. If you would like a stainless steel case, then you will have to prepare at least 490 CZK. In contrast, the Apple Watch SE 21 is available from 990 CZK for the version with a 2 mm case, or from 7 for the version with a 690 mm case. For a few thousand less, you get a first-class smart watch that is literally packed with modern technologies and can easily handle any activity.

Which Apple Watch is your favorite? Do you prefer the Apple Watch Series 8, or can you get by with the Apple Watch SE 2?
